I LOLed when the wife goes to hell. She somehow deserves it looking at how she treats people around her. She dislikes the younger girl due to unfair jealousy and pettiness. Although i admire her for her dedication to take care of husband by stepping on others with loan shark business because it’s dog eats dog’s world. I understand that the ones who owe her money are in the wrong, they should pay her back, when they owe money. I also understand that these people think that people like hae sook makes money upon their misfortunes hence why they hate haesook. But her negativity and impatience impacts her a lot in heaven. Somehow heaven doesn’t count her good deeds like cooking for the pastor, or finally accepting the younger girl although under the pre-tense of young ae which means she is only kind to close family. She is very borderline heaven and hell. Somehow she is kind somehow she is not. Meanwhile her husband is a straight angel.

At the beginning of the show ofc i can’t stand of ae sun’s character too, she treated gwang sik so bad. But towards mid show, especially after they got married, i think she treated him quite well and even endure the abuse my gwang sik’s family. From ae sun’s pov, it’s still about the anger inside of her that she could not bear so she ran away. She made a bad decision as a teen, she thinks that her step father didn’t keep his promise to pay for her school, so she get revenge by taking all the golds and start a new life, didn’t even understand how the world and there are more dangers ahead, like the scammer lady. Yea she was selfish as a kid, and honestly kids who have a bad background can turn out to be worst than ae sun, it’s because ae sun has a simp, that’s why she is still sane. The simp’s love who changes her to be better.

About how they treated her sons, i do feel bad about her sons. She also doesn’t have anyone who she can learn from as a new mother. How to be a better mother. It’s sad. A second child often gets treated this way though no matter what their genders are. I am a second child. My older brother gets to be prioritized first in chinese culture. So it always happens that way and they are not aware that they are bad parents, this is the growth, when the son got in the jail, they realized their mistake. Gwang sik is more fair though, he has been celebrating his birthday, even sold his boat for son. In the end the story show a broken character who grow through hardship.

Well, now that you pointed it out, yea i kinda see that. I also thought that teens are angsty. Ae sun was still a teen when she got married. Although not all teens are angsty, but some teens are angsty. That is aesun’s character. She has her own flaw. She was treated unfairly since childhood in her father’s family, raised separately from her mother. Suddenly became orphaned at young age. Need to raise two step siblings, got promised of education but she was denied of her right. If you as a child were abused and taken for granted, will you still be sweet and all? I think she just gets angry with the whole world and only can lash it out to people who want to listen to her like gwang sik. She just gets disappointed over and over again. She is angry with unfairness in Her class, where she is smarter than that boy, but that boy whose father was richer can get to be class president instead. If you keep getting treated that way, i don’t think you will stay sane. The world was totally unfair to women back then.

I honestly think that the youngest son cried and wanted to get hugged was the most pitiful situation. But when they all blame themselves for their mistake, it actually makes me feel sad and understand them more. As a mother, ae sun was alone raising 3 kids, without helper, even need to clean and cook. When she was so tired, as human, people can lash out. She was panicking too when she thinks her daughter got accident. Hence why the sons were left behind. So i kinda understand that. Mothers always got the blame when something bad happens to the kids, so please don’t do that. Anyway i don’t understand why the second son can’t celebrate birthday just because the youngest son death anniversary is close to his birthday. Even though gwangsik celebrate his birthday behind their back. Is it the culture there or just that ae sun”s toxicity? This i am not sure. In the end they sold boat to help the son. However yea, in some families, it does happen when the parents favor one kid due to being smart and diligent. It’s like how a boss favor one staff over the other staff due to being more diligent. So i think it’s normal although not ideal. I guess their description about life and human is real. If the show is about ideal person, then it wouldn’t be interesting since it will be too unreal.

I have a question, at the last episode, the little girl who grew up looking like ae soon’s mom, maybe she is a reincarnation of her mom? She cried when she read the poetry book.

I think they both suffer and are victims of media harassment. After sae ron got dui case, media unfairly still berating her left and right. Soo hyun didn’t want anything to do with her due to the fact that he could be the next victim, to see how media treats their celebrities. So he ditched her. She was upset because her oppa let her down, even blocking her, he doesn’t want her news spread and destroy his career too. So he is a coward. He didn’t even want to go visit her funeral due to the gossip that the girl has posted on her socmed that they were an item before. He keeps denying their relationship instead of addressing it, because celebrities in korea needs to stay single in their whole career if they want to stay famous. That makes people accuse him even more about being a pedo. Need more evidence that they were in relationship since she was a child or something otherwise it’s only what the youtuber said. If possible, the justice system needs to be involved. Call detective, police, put it in the court. I only trust justice system than some random youtubers.

I asked my husband to watch and he finds the show is boring too. I know why he thinks that way, because he was a neglected kid in the past. His parents kept working and never have a relationship with him. He was the youngest kid, was born unplanned, so his age gap is far from his siblings. Siblings were too busy in uni, he was always alone. Her mother didn’t even come to visit him when he was seriously sick. Now i am not saying that you were neglected too, but people who can’t relate just can’t relate, so it’s fine because everyone has different experiences.

I just could not believe that this drama touched me so much. I am not an emotional person in real life, but this drama reminds me that every mother also has her own story. Just like how my mom likes to tell me story about my grandma, how grandma taught her to be independent, to study, even buy gold to save for future. Taught her many skills like sewing. She loves her mother so much but sadly grandma passed away young too, so my mother had to carry on since young. Mom was still in middle school when granny passed away.

Hmm what other family dramas that you like so far? For me, this drama span the whole generation of family is brilliant. I immediately want to call my mom after i watched this because i come from a very loving family like what myung gyeong has. Now i understand the struggle my parents endure to raise me and my siblings despite of all the flaws they have and i don’t dare to not appreciate them anymore after i watched this. When my mother was young, her mother passed at young age too and she herself struggled to study and worked hard. Her siblings helped her, and so on. I just think the story itself is amazing. I relate so much about this because my family is a loving family. So i am definitely their target audience.

Maybe because you are not their target audience who can relate to family’s dynamic.
