If you are looking for romance, this drama is not for you. This is a drama with so many complex emotions, you just cannot tell right from wrong. Unlike other dramas it doesn't show us the pink world rather it makes us visualize the world of the people who are deeply pained. Not all wounds go away with time and this hits so hard in this drama. Do watch if you are ready to go through a surge of all these emotions. All in all , it is beautifully portrayed. Was this review helpful to you?

Not exactly a typical xianxia that you've watched
This is a drama released in a period when every other xianxia had similar troupes of sisters growing jealous or eventually hateful, mother's hating one of their children or at least their partner, all immortals being overly self righteous, one ultimate devil who's the mastermind of a big conspiracy etc.Now this drama is pretty different from the xianxias released in 2023 or before and stands out even to this day. It has affectionate sisters who never misunderstand each other can can do anything to make the other safe. Generally when one child is favoured, he grows complacent and dislikes the other sibling and that sibling is jealous of the bias given to the other, however that's not the case here. YeTan and QingKui are lovely sisters who bear very different personalities but adore each and respect each other. Even though it's a xianxia, we have a lot of comedy which is another plus. We do not have any hateful lovers either.
YeTan was always mistreated since childhood but she's not resentful. She says she has always wanted to be the greatest Devil of the Void but her acts prove otherwise. She's mischievous but kind and such a character adds a lot of comic relief when paired with her beast friend Man. With both of them onscreen, there's not a single dull moment.
The immortal ml Youqin is not rigid and adapts well. His siblings are pure and do not harbour any jealousy towards him. They are supportive of him till the very end. Di Lanjue has always loved YeTan but he moves on when he has to and does not become hateful. Similarly Wudai loves QingKui but doesn't turn hateful.
QingKui adapts in the Void very well and everyone starts to like her. It was very brave of her to take the initiative of practicing medicine in such a place.
The concept of a blessing misunderstood as a curse is well projected. If a lot of people start to believe that something is very dangerous and can cause mass destruction, nobody can do much about it.
I find the void tyrant more flexible than the heavenly emperor.
The character I hated the most was the heavenly emperor's spy general.

Really?
Major spoilers here...
Proceed only if you're cool with it.
It starts off well as a fluffy story with two best friends who are super loyal to each other and would risk it all. Initially it felt like like their crush on the same person due to a huge misunderstanding would ruin it. Surprisingly that part barely last a few seconds and it got sorted. Now one might think, cool, the friendship is intact, the girl has supportive parents and would never object to her relationship, the boy doesn't seem to have any major problems either. He goes abroad for a short while with a promise to go to the same uni as her, they communicate via mails ( as the name suggests, it is set in the 20th century, where phones were not a thing yet).
So what could possibly go wrong right? Well well well, the girl suddenly stops getting any replies from the boy and was never able to move on because she always expected him to return. After 15 years she gets to know that the boy had passed away in a road accident.
Was it really necessary?
I already read spoilers and knew that it would end this way but only when I watched it I realised how sudden it was. I agree that life is like that and such things happen without any warning but if you look at the beginning, there is nothing serious. The girl does everything which most of us would never dare to do. They could have just kept it that way throughout.

A heavy drama
It is a wuxia drama with a lot of subplots simultaneously taking place. It's not the best wuxia out there but gives a decent taste of the same. In the beginning , it seems a little light but with all that also there was always a lingering heaviness. We deserved to see how Bai Fengxi joined her master's sect. Hei Fengxi's background introduction was good.I did not like how the later episodes turned out with one of them dying and the other sacrificing 10 years and stuff..Was this review helpful to you?
Female lead centric story
The plot is interesting and the music makes the action intense. As the story unfolds we get to see why each character is the way that it is.The cast is perfect, and as I saw familiar faces it made my experience all the more better. Ye Zhenzhen , Jiang Li , Tong er, Xiao Heng , Jiang Ruoyao were familiar faces for me.
Every bit of it is satisfying , however I feel the ending was a bit rushed. Overall it was fun to watch it.
