I don't think the heavy-handed social commentary translated well across cultures. And even though the fight scenes were well-choreographed, the bad guys were sort of like a soulless zombie horde, so every episode felt repetitive.

I enjoyed season 1, but the dialogue repeatedly pointed out the characters are "elite" trained soldiers, yet they apparently retained nothing from their service except the ability to sloppily salute.

Great show, especially the fighting scenes. But it gets really annoying with the many scenes that mention they're marines, yet they apparently were only trained to salute. It would have made more sense if the characters shared the same hobby, like knitting :-)
