Script choices last three years have been truly questionable. One rom-com after another, and now Love Virus again, which has a pretty sketchy plot—nothing special or engaging enough to actually make you want to watch it. Obviously, his agency, FNC, has no idea how to manage a mature actor who is nearly 40 years old, so they keep pushing him into these naive 30-something roles. Where are the actions, thrillers, saeguks, or even fantasy dramas? Lately, it's been nothing but mediocre romantic comedies
What are you talking about 😭 He barely even does romcoms. In the last few years he’s done The Worst of Evil,…
"I agree regarding rom-coms. Their viewership is really weak, under 3 percent. And they’ve become a bit silly with accidental falls, people in their 30s who don't know how to behave and throw tantrums like children. Action, thrillers, and intense, interesting stories are more watched now. I think the point of being an actor isn't to star in 4 projects a year; it's better to do 1 good project every 2 years. For example, Kim Ji-won making a huge comeback after two and a half years
It doesn’t even resemble any other romance—how could you compare it to something else when you haven’t even…
You're right. I spoke too soon and didn't even check it out. I guess the premise got on my nerves, so I just reacted on the spot. We need to wait and see how the execution goes
What is this? Another story about a break in a long-term relationship before marriage. I smell a massive fiasco. What's even the point of these cheating dramas? Just break up and that's it. Taking a break, dragging two other innocent people into their mess. Obviously, K-dramas are losing their charm and the core reason why people watch them. There's already one ongoing fiasco with a similar plot, Love Other Than Yours. According to the actor's statement, this is supposed to be a funny romantic comedy. I don't see anything funny about the premise of this drama. What on earth is wrong with the actors, choosing this specific script out of all the options offered to them?
For now, we only see the story from her perspective. His side isn't shown at all, except that he's portrayed as a simp who worships the ground she walks on. Get this—after 10 years, she doesn't feel butterflies anymore, WTF? Why is there such an obsession with butterflies? They come and go. They'll fade with this lawyer too, and then what? Suddenly she's 'depressed,' so I guess it's totally fine that she's cheating on her boyfriend of 10 years who has always been right there for her. The biggest issue here is a total lack of communication. Instead of handling it and seeing whether they should move forward or break up, nope—they're going to drag two innocent people into their mess for a month. I honestly have no idea how this is going to end.
Finished watching it. The beginning was funny and interesting—a bit different, yet still familiar. My only complaint is something they constantly do in dramas, which feels so unrealistic: the ML has been completely single his whole life just because he talked to the FL for 10 seconds 15 years ago. Meanwhile, she is highly experienced with relationships. That part was just a bit too much for me. Like, why do writers do this? He wouldn't even remember what she looks like, let alone wait for her his entire life. Hello?! Overall, it's a solid watch, but that one trope was just ridiculous.
All in all, it's okay. It has quite a few clichés and it's a bit too cringe for my taste, but it's decent enough to watch. The cinematography is beautiful and the story is interesting, though nothing groundbreaking. 8/10
After 8 episodes, I seriously don't see where this drama is going or what the point even is. Absolutely nothing about it feels realistic. First of all, a 10-year relationship doesn't have butterflies? They are gone after a few months—that's NORMAL and expected. If you're always chasing butterflies, you'll never end up with anyone. The whole point of marriage and a long-term relationship is choosing that person every day, peace, stability, trust, and friendship. The writers started this show with a completely wrong premise from the get-go. Furthermore, the FL's ALLEGED depression because she didn't move out of the way of a car, making her suddenly suicidal, makes no sense. As someone who has actually been hit by a car, the fact that you don't move isn't depression—you just freeze. The exact same thing happened to me; you just stand there because your legs won't work. Granted, everyone reacts differently, but here, they reduce that entire traumatic situation to her just being depressed and suicidal. On what grounds is she suicidal? Even if she is, why wasn't this addressed in therapy? I don't get what the implication of that storyline is supposed to be. Thirdly, the line: "You have a month to date around, try something else, and I'll wait for you." How is that realistic? Who in their right mind would allow that? I personally never would. If someone seeks comfort in others during the difficult days of their life—and trust me, there will be plenty more of those—they are simply not cut out for long-term relationships or marriage. The show is trying to justify cheating with the excuse that she's depressed and struggling in life, and that her partner just doesn't see it. Sometimes people hide their feelings from others, and even those closest to you can't tell you're not doing well. So, the real problem here is communication. And their solution to this is opening up the relationship for a month? What is even the point of consciously bringing new people into your mess? The FL is completely poorly written and is a walking red flag. A massive number of people aren't successful in their careers, don't achieve their goals or desires, and work just to survive—so what? There are other joys in life besides just work. Most people work simply to make a living and enjoy hobbies, which she clearly doesn't have.
