for everyone confused abt the timeline of events in the movie, here’s a brief explanation. i’m not 100% sure if it’s correct, but this is from what i understood. and sorry, this is kinda long LMAO.
timeline: - a year and seven months ago, da eun met jang hyuk and they start dating soon after that - jang hyuk starts working at the big company, which was when it was kinda noticeable that he wasn’t putting the same amount of effort in the relationship - three months ago, da eun meets LEE jang hyuk (emphasizing the “lee” bc i think that’s what threw everyone off LMAO) - the bond between da eun and LEE jang hyuk starts developing - da eun reveals to jang hyuk that she’s pregnant, which is why she crushed the box of cigarettes that she saw LEE jang hyuk smoking - da eun and jang hyuk get busier with work, which is when their relationship continues to go downhill - da eun gets an abortion probably bc they realized that they both weren’t ready for a baby and that they were both busy with work (i believe it was the scene where they were at the obgyn) - later that day, da eun gets a call from LEE jang hyuk, which was when they started to hangout more often (so from the scenes they showed earlier on in the movie, i can assume that she cheated first? da eun kinda uses LEE jang hyuk as comfort bc of her relationship with the other jang hyuk that was going downhill) - a week or two later i believe, da eun and jang hyuk go to the night market, which was the last time they hung out before they broke up (it wasn’t shown, but im assuming it was sometime after that) - da eun continues to hangout with LEE jang hyuk (they never rly like “dated” i think) - da eun sends the ring back to jang hyuk (since they’ve broken up) - this was when jang hyuk realizes he should “move on” by dating bo young (i personally think bo young was like a rebound tho) - jang hyuk’s relationship with bo young continues to develop, but he slowly starts to realize he’s still not over da eun - jang hyuk and bo young’s temporary job at the big company comes to an end, which was when they had the year end party at the bar - while at the bar, jang hyuk realizes he really wants to salvage the relationship he had with da eun, which is why he goes to the airport, not aware that da eun was going to jeju with LEE jang hyuk instead - at the airport, jang hyuk sees da eun and starts running to her, but bumps into LEE jang hyuk (kinda confusing bc at the beginning, it was shown that da eun handed LEE jang hyuk shoes when he arrived at the airport, so maybe he went to get something after that, which was why he had to run back to her?) - jang hyuk sees da eun consoling LEE jang hyuk, which is when he realizes that she moved on almost right away after they broke up (not knowing that da eun and LEE jang hyuk started hanging out before that) - jang hyuk rushes back to bo young and hopes to salvage their relationship instead, since bo young had to go abroad now that their temporary job came to an end
so yeah, that’s kinda what i got from putting the pieces together. in my opinion, i think both da eun and jang hyuk are at fault. in da eun’s case, it was hanging out with LEE jang hyuk and starting to cheat on jang hyuk. in jang hyuk’s case, it was not putting the same amount of effort into the relationship as da eun did. honestly, the plot twist at the end was a shocker. but, i was definitely most confused after went back in time to show us the timeline of events, which is why i rewinded to put piece and piece together to form the timeline i wrote, since i knew everyone was probably just as confused as i was. anyways, again, i can’t guarantee this is 100% accurate, but that’s the summary of the timeline i put together.
