Gripping, interesting and fun story
I was pleasantly surprised by this drama!
I've watched a few dramas starred by Rain ("Full House", "A Love to Kill" and "Sang Doo! Let's Go to School"), and at one point jokingly asked a friend "I wonder if he's ever chosen one with a good story?". Well, he has! "Welcome 2 Life" is genuinely good in terms of plot, acting, twists and overall production. I didn't care much for the OST, but it didn't get in the way of my enjoyment either.
One of my favorite aspects of the story is how there wasn't much dwelling on the "parallel reality" part of it. For Rain's character, there was the initial shock of falling into it, and then of getting out again, but it never dominated the narrative. There weren't extensive moments of him pondering what happened, or why/how - he just grieved, and then used it to his advantage when he could. It didn't get in the way of the crime-solving, but it still led to some very touching and sad scenes, so I felt that the balance was great.
I initially wasn't sold on the lead actress being a fit for her role, but she grew on me. The whole cast was excellent, extras included. I definitely recommend this drama.
