I love this show sm, it's making me feel emotions that I had kind of buried inside. Some for good reason, some because life happened that way. My heart<3

I felt sad seeing her so timid as well :( I trust she's finally going to heal from this now that her secret is out and she can fully break free from the shadow her ex brings with him.

I think the scene in Episode 1 was layered symbolism for Seunghyo's wrestle with the dilemma of going back to your past or moving forward. Do you bury it or bring it back to life? The combination of his contrasting ideas on tradition (like how he made his office ceiling like a traditional tomb) but also forging new paths (like starting his own company) is quite complex. And apart from architecture, it also connects to his lost dreams, his relationship with his mom and most importantly, Seokryu.
Idk if any of that made sense, but now I want to chew more on this topic.

I would wager and say both. Feels more satisfying 😌 Maybe she's good with little quantities of popcorn in general, but the stress of everything creeped up on her.

I think she knew it wasn't a deadly cancer and that she will get treated, hence she didn't feel she had to tell her parents. Instead, by hiding this, she felt she was saving them from pain. They were already so burdened about Donjin's heart condition even though it had gone away. Sad that she felt she had to shoulder though it all without her family :(

Well, I don't think communication is a problem unique with her. Remember how she helped Seungyo express his frustations after the accident? She's often been more upfront with things than him. Yes, it's sad she felt the need to keep secrets but if Seokryu's bad at communicating, then there's no one in this show who's good at it. They're all growing :)

Seunghyo not even flinching before telling Seokryu's ex that he feels romantically about her was insane. And by insane I mean insanely hot.
Also, it was hilarious when he asked Taehui "has the social perception of what's attractive changed?" He confronts the ex so directly. As he should :D

Wait this makes much more sense than my explantion. His silent confidence does betray that he takes her for granted because of their past. Now I also demand a good confrontation scene between Seokryu and him. It needs to come out properly.

Wait, I didn't even appreciate how confrontational Seunghyo was being with the ex. He might have been a scaredly cat in front of Seokryu but I loved that he was confident in front of the ex.

"Feeling indebted, so you can't blame him even though you were cheated on." That's exactly how I understood it too. Some people aren't able to get this, but you explained it so simply and concisely. That's why she's unable to be too harsh with him, even though she has made her boundaries clear. Now that her secret is out, things will get smoothened out I believe.

As for the ex, of course, he was shitty for cheating on her. You don't cheat on someone you love. The only reason I can think of that explains him chasing her is that he confuses feeling sympathy for her as love. Sometimes people help us through hard times but it doesn't mean they are meant for each other. I think Seokryu will explain this to him and at that point, he will stop chasing her and leave.

People who have calmed down about the reveals in this episode, can we go back and appreciate some of the sweet moments?
For example, the hand burn scene. I could feel the tension so bad. And then later when Seunghyo said he wanted to be buried in the blood-stained tie. Like, what?😂 Oh and the theatre!! He was so delighted by the popcorn machine. My god, he's so happy after confessing.

they aren't in a relationship yet so i would say it's better to reserve judgment about her as a girlfriend for later 🤷

Yeah and those documents seem to be brochures and stuff about the Culinary Institute of America that he mentioned before. He's probably telling her to come to the US and pursue her dream.
He doesn't know that her passion is in exploring Korean food. She's working for a Korean Food Craftsman certificate and her excitement about different pastes in Taehui's village says it all.
It's obviously going to be a no for both offers.😌

You're saying this as if she has never done anything for him, which isn't the truth. Ultimately, their friendship is deeper than these transactional details. And a strong friendship is the ground for a healthy romantic relationship too. I'm sure she will express her feelings for him when the time comes. In any case, we can agree to disagree✌️

Well, she already told Seunghyo that she needs time. It's clearly not a stable time for her because things are too entangled in all aspects of her life. He confessed anyway. I get why he did that too. Ultimately, I can sympthize with both of them and I still think their love will stand strong.

I don't think she's leaning towards the ex. She made food for Seunghyo, dressed up hoping to see him, ate the popcorn he got, gets flustered by him. With the ex, I think she only feels a certain indebtedness. She doesn't know what to do with that

Going crazy about Seunghyo and Seokryu's little morning rendezvous after the night of the confession. Acting as if they slept very peacefully. Stumbling over their words. Love this dialogue especially:

"We have to make it to 100"
"Make it to 100? Together?"
"No, I misspoke. You know that saying about living for a long time..."
"What?"
"Good health and longevity. Eternal life and 100 years of marital... I mean there's a saying that's about 100 years"

Love the Dad scenes too. Previously it seemed that only Seokryu's dad has annoying habits when drunk, but this time Seunghyo's dad was plenty annoying too xD Nice way to balance that out.

I've thought about the ex fiance. He definitely cheated but Seokryu is unable to be mad at him because of his past support. Maybe they only got engaged because of this feeling of indebtedness. Don't think there's any love left from Seokryu's side, and maybe there never was. Waiting for them to resolve this fully as well.

About the combination of her having a stomach illness and her love for making food - it certainly makes for an interesting perspective because she can understand the struggles of patients needing to eat healthy food. She even knows the struggles of Korean students in foreign countries. They seemed to touch on this topic from a different angle with Seunghyo's mom craving Korean food too. Maybe she'll combine her product management experience and target that niche somehow?

Thank you for explaining the psychology of his actions. I agree that Seunghyo's behaviour was very realistic. Both the leads have different forms of emotional intelligence and blindspots. A peak example of Seunghyo's emotional maturity was in the jungle gym scene, when he tells Seokryu to not laugh if she feels like crying. He knew what she was going through when even she didn't. As for Seokryu, she knew her friend has a tendency to bottle up feelings and helped him get out of his slump after his accident. This show is such an honest and raw exploration of frienship, love and vulnerability<3
