Sadly idols don't have to be good actors, as you see the rating is high anyway. Nobody cares about the acting.
I'm rating simply by category: best romcom, best thriller, etc, so I give the same high scores to a romcom and an art movie too. Within a series, I always take away points when something is really confusing, like very bad acting, unacceptably illogical story line, unnatural dialogs, etc. For me some mistakes are forgivable, if the overall show is very entertaining and still give a high score. I got my BA in literature and linguistics, so I'm interested in other cultures from this point of view, and fell in love with asian cultures a few years ago (especially korean and japanese), their stories so different and refreshing for me. Even when it comes to soap operas :D
Well, Suho does not have to worry about Ha Yeon Soo overplay him, thats for sure :D (Yes, their facial expressions are the problems, supporting actors are completely fine). I hope they will evolve in acting in the future, for their sake.

It is not the problem if an idol can't act initially, or she/he has to learn (and yep, often a support role better for them at first, not that much pressure like a main). And some can do it very well. I love Junho for example (I don't know his music but I know, he is an idol). If I rate a show, I rate it for the current performance, not for the "maybe he/she will learn acting and will be better" thing. When I participate a competition never get high scores because maybe I will be better next time or because maybe I will evolve. Problem is, almost all ratings are useless this way. I know, it will not change, ppl will not care about little things like story, acting, etc, and sometimes I feel the pain when I see it. :p It is not the idols fault but the blind fans. I hate it, when I see good ratings, and I think, oh, finally its time for some relaxation and fun, but then I have to drop the drama after 3-4 eps, and try to find another one :(
We seriously need a better system. What's the rush to write a review about a drama that's only had 2 episodes?…
I really don't understand how can they do this? How the hell is it possible at all? The owners of the page should take care of this. It simply shouldn't be allowed till the show is over. The rating is useless, because ppl rate up series mostly because of the (idol) male protagonists, and the review section is useless, because ppl write reviews based on 2 eps.
This is a great drama, not perfect, but I have not found any perfect drama so far. For me (in romantic comedy category) this show is really one of the best. Or the best hit :D The characters and acting are great, the comedy part is very good, the romance is cute, but there are not too much pointless conflicts, and it does not want to be more than it is: an entertaining romantic comedy. Besides that, I love the music. I have seen it three times, but I think I will watch it over and over again if I am in a bad mood. This kinda show can comfort me.
so his dad is probably alive and well somewhere with no memories?? and if they fall in love again they are obvs…
No, his dad didn't drink the black flower thing, he just killed himself. Some signs suggest he (Oh So) dissolved the curse (by drinking that stuff and losing his memories), so they can love each other, but it is not sure, because the tree flourished at the end, as I remember and the grandfather said to Oh So's brother that they can not do anything, because Yoo Ri and Oh So met again. If the curse is gone, why should they do anything?. The ending was too chaotic and poorly written.
After a year of watching it i still think this is one of the best dramas I've ever watched. Goblin has everthing,…
I completely agree. In fantasy category this is the best drama I have ever seen. When I saw it at first time, I hated it. Really. I was so angry. I wanted to watch an airy romantic comedy, I don't want to saw that much pain. Then time has passed and I found myself thinking about the pictures of the drama, so I started it again just to saw the beautiful cinematography. And I fell in love with the whole story and watched 3 times :D I think, the plot is beautiful, and has deep, strong emotions, the cinematography and the locations are incredible, the music is unforgettable, the acting is almost perfect. The ending wasn't perfect tho... but I'm still waiting for another one like this too.
I think not the open ending is the problem itself. There are very good shows with open ending all over the world. But the story... lots of unfinished, semifinished or unnecessary characters (like the octopus boy, the english-korean guy, etc). There are 20 episodes, and basically nothing happens but romantic chitchat. The plot has a lot of hole but almost has nothing to say. The female protagonist's character is not consistent and weak. The cinematography is nice (but I have seen better), the acting is ok (but I have seen better). So the open ending is a good thing, but not for a drama like this. Just one more hole in the emmental cheese.
