I totally agree with you. the only reason I return to gmm time and time again is because of the actors I love to see. but gmm is predictable, it’s very rare they dare to try something out of the box, and there are only a few gems that do this. with the rise of new and more promising companies, more mature bl audiences are moving away from gmm and as you said, gmm will always be the place for teenage viewers, but as people grow older, they don’t want to see high school romances anymore, or even over the top unrealistic fluffy dramas (I do love a cute, fluffy drama, but not every single drama produced needs to fit that mould, y’know?) I definitely feel like profitability is effected by the show being longer. the amount of shows I’ve felt like could’ve ended a few episodes ago that just keep on dragging out until that 12 episode mark. gmm needs to be careful, they won’t forever stay as the leading company by producing ‘okay’ dramas when there are newer companies daring to do so much more.

fr only friends was a total gem, they even flopped with s2 in my opinion. I swear, every show that first and khao star in ends up being so good. cherry magic was good too, but it’s not an original story. I’ve realised with gmm, they make really promising trailers and the show starts off really good but gives up halfway through and becomes insufferable to watch. ticket to heaven was good because it was short and wasn’t stretched into 10 to 12 episodes. the way thai bls are being made, especially by gmm will eventually grow old.

fr there are only a few fixed couples I actually like, and even then sometimes it can be repetitive. I also hate when certain pairings get stuck with the same storylines again and again. geminifourth being in a school setting constantly is frustrating. these aren’t teenage boys!! and it’s especially worse for me as I’m not a big fan of high school dramas at all. and one thing that really frustrates me, not that it should matter but these pairings make such a big deal about it, are top/bottoms. every storyline has to work around the top and bottom, it’s never verse. the top is the top and the bottom is the bottom in every damn story and they can never swap. I also feel like it’s better for actors to work with different people. it challenges their comfort zones a little more and allows them to experiment. fixed pairs, I believe, traps an actor in a very small bubble.

I do kind of understand why people are upset about aouboom BUT openly hating and bad mouthing the actors is just so gross. it’s their job and gmmtv ultimately controls it.. aou isn’t going to throw away his acting career just because their pairing has broken up. emphasis on the word ‘pairing’. yes, they are most likely friends, but first and foremost they are co-workers. and yes, gmmtv probably should’ve released their break up a bit earlier and soft launched it, but instead of hating on aouthird, why don’t we get excited to see aou as a main lead finally? or third joining gmmtv? and we don’t even know what happened behind the scenes because we are the audience and so we shouldn’t be so invested in relationships that don't have much to do with us. we don’t know aou or boom personally. it just makes me upset seeing all this hate. I absolutely adored top form, it’s one of my favourite bls ever and after what happened to smartboom, it made me realise that we shouldn’t get too invested in these ships. or much like heeseung leaving enhyphen. they are on screen actors at the end of the day and we should appreciate them for their talents rather than shipping them together only to be disappointed. totally, it’s so fun to see your favourite ship together, but save yourself the heartbreak for when they do eventually end it.

exactly. bromances have a wider audience than bls, so it kind of benefits gmmtv by producing more of them. I love love love a good bromance, but gmmtv is known for their bls and it’s pretty much the largest thai bl company so it feels kind of unfair to jump ship and do whatever benefits the company rather than stick faithful to their audiences. domundi definitely produces better quality bls than gmmtv and recently most gmmtv series kind of disappoint me. it’s a shame.

any ‘be on cloud’ series tbh😭 so kinnporsche, 4 minutes (a personal fav of mine🤌) shine and dead friend forever. top form was pretty crazy too and has to be in my top 3 bls of all time, so was playboyy but I didn’t really like that show. my stubborn, love in the air. teach me, touch me is a currently airing one, it has about 3 eps I think. fool in love is good too, there’s abt 8 eps so far. the fact I can remember all of these without researching is concerning me so I’ll stop here😭

I think it is one of those series where you had to be there when it came out. I think people who watched it back then will have a much stronger love for this show than people who watched it more recently do. re-watching it does make me realise it’s not as fantastic as I thought it was, but it is still super good. kind of the same situation with kinnporsche.
