he's literally trespassing, even his friend gave him a permission to enter his house it doesn't mean he can do…
His "friend" is NOT his friend. He never imagined the guy would say "OK, go ahead." When he actually DID say it, he was mocking him and about to call the cops.
BTW, how are things in your black-and-white world where you never make any poor choices?
English subbed film here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgNWf08k2dQEnjoy!
I felt there were some great story ideas here, but the writing and execution were bogus. Too many implausibles and plot holes. By the way, do you get what killed the dad at the end? Was it the poisoned vodka? If so, why did it take so long to work?
Feels like a film that could have been immensely suspenseful and nerve-wracking, but it wasn't. What did you think?
It's a snooze fest. What happened to Korean BL? A Shoulder to cry on, Individual Circumstances, Unintentional…
I love the subtle angst and four-way entanglement established here, the realistic portrayal of parental struggles, the good acting, the restraint from using music to tell us how to feel, and its somewhat cinematic look and feel. For me, first two eps of TES were impressive, then in all went down the tubes to Tropesville.
I am duly intrigued. Within two episodes I saw four-way, romantic angst but without melodrama, realistic home situations portrayed realistically, without the usual BL overwrought parental acting, nice subtle acting from all players including the two leads as young boys on the swing set. Also like the restraint shown in not constantly using music to cue our emotions. There was almost none of that.
Overall, the first two eps had a nice, cinematic vibe. I pray this won't be another The Eighth Sense, which so impressed me in the first three episodes then went to shit, including trope city. Also like that the two central characters are not supermodel pretty boys, but have a more average handsomeness going on. But not Jin Hwan. He's a knock out.
BTW, I am totally Team Jin Hwan here. Don't anybody get in our way.
Great potential but way too much going on and the ending makes no sense, Plot threads either never resolve and are just left hanging or they are directly contradicted by other plot threads. The ending goes four different ways and there's no telling which one if any is the one intended. Or if the director thought he was being clever and "leaving it up to the viewer" one last time after doing that repeatedly during the prior 150 minutes of story time.
I didn't have trouble sticking with the film because I assumed, silly me, that it was all going to come together in the end. It didn't.
I love a good supernatural horror film and I'd read repeatedly that this one is great. Those writers lied. I'm not exactly sorry I watched as there were quite a few stunning scenes and lots of tension/fear/angst, which I love. But none of it connected by wrap-up. I can't imagine who was on drugs, including the director and producers, in watching this thing and saying "yeah, it's great, let's go with it."
Lots of great acting, it's just that they were all acting out stuff that in the end seemed silly and deliberately misleading.
Tons of plot holes too. Also, one really cheesy Halloween costume with red eyes we're meant to take seriously.
Yep. I am so here for Mr. Naked. It's not merely that I adore those long, lean physiques on men, but I also enjoy…
A good heart and charisma can make an average or even under-average face into an attractive one. This exact thing happened with my last long-term BF. First time I saw him I was "mmm...he's OK...", but after a few weeks of getting to know him I was besotted and found him magnetically attractive.
I'm OK with a few sadistic, evil young people being show as existing in the world but even before it gets to the level of savagery shown in this movie, you have to show me WHY and HOW they got to be that way, or at least throw me a few hints. Very few humans are BORN sociopaths. The bullies here are too sneeringly OTT eeeeeeevil to be taken as real kids. They're caricatures of bullies. This fact took a lot of the power out of the story for me.
A few important plot holes, contrivances, and credibility gaps made it even less believable. Which is all too bad because there's the core of a good flick here, but it was wasted. I'd love to see a better-made sequel though, revealing how the attorney/dad interacts with his son going forward, knowing what he now knows. And THAT story could go a lot of interesting directions.
Main reason for watching this silly thing is simply to bask in the masculine, sweet screen presence of Kondo Shori, my current fave long, tall drink of Japanese water. Don't care much for the little guy but it may be my jealousy that makes me feel that way. :)
Plot is fine, nothing especially good or bad. Looking ahead to great things from KS in the future.
Dropping. Just cannot get into this. They're in high school in 1981 I guess, but the film has the feeling of a Hollywood delinquent youth film from the 1950s. Plus, all four male leads look to be 35, not 18, which is distracting and unnecessary. High school personality traits look stupid on a 35 year old. lol
I am curious as to why you won't watch such a great film a second time. Especially since if you're like me and…
I agree about the quality of this film. I rated it 9.5. I didn't generally like violent films at all, avoided them as a matter of fact, until over the last three years that I've been watching Asian films almost exclusively. The Koreans especially are excellent at bringing depth to all the characters and motivations, in a way I just never felt in Hollywood stuff. So I feel connected to the people in these stories, which makes things extra painful or extra nice depending on what is happening.
I'm one of those who for god knows what reason, enjoys being tied in knots by a film. Asian film has also taught me how to be OK with various levels of uncertainty about film endings. But horrible things happening is OK with me as long as I understand WHY it's happening and I care about who it's happening to. The two lead actors in ACC had me in tears multiple times at the depthless emotions they conveyed.
The time skip was so sudden that it confused me like what in the world happened. He also magically "healed" himself.…
Yeah, SJ is a douche. The way he treats the "bestie" is horrible and oblivious. It IS cool that he was able to give himself his own therapy and now he's one hundred percent cured of his anxiety and depression. Show started out with a strong depiction of mental illness but pushed that message that all you need to treat your disease is a year away from your stalker during which you write one song that becomes a big hit, you become a famous idol, and be sure keep treating those closest to you like they don't exist.
lol Dictionary definition of LAME: "Happy Merry Ending." Korean BLs are going the way of Thai BLs and that's not a good thing. What a weird plot. Can't believe they kept that sweet, handsome bestie to SJ hanging for 8 episodes, then just left that element unresolved in any way. I hope he gets away from stupid SJ fast and finds someone who can appreciate his kind and soulful nature. Also, another Korean BL with bad/weak-ass kissing. Also laughed at the way they were presented as having slept together while wearing color-coordinate jammies. There was zero evidence any hanky panky had occurred which is extremely unrealistic. I felt like I was watching an old Doris Day flick in which there's lots of flirting but NO touching, please. lol
I have some thoughts after watching it, especially about S** abusers. Majority of the do it, because they know…
Seriously, I think people know. But yes, it never hurts to see it portrayed more often. My ONLY beef with this film, and it's really more a beef with the Korean film industry, is that every gay guy in this flick is an abuser. Which is fine within the story as it is, but the problem is that Korean movies so rarely portray gay people in a GOOD light and I can see gay-haters seeing this movie and thinking "yeah, that's what they're all like."
Oh well, fuck those bigots. That's what they're going to think anyway. I'm gay af and this movie is a 9.5 for me.
