Thank you for the reply! While I agree with most of what you said, I disagree with the fact that the romance wasn't…
Ah! I actually didn’t watch any of the advertisements for the show - believe it or not, I ended up watching because I saw our two leads on an episode of Let’s Eat Dinner Together and thought they were fabulous! :)

I totally think that JTBC advertised Misty completely incorrectly, which I think led to misleading many viewers on what type of show it was!

So I think we do kinda agree. :)

I loooooved Misty, pretty much everything about it. I do think that a lot of people didn’t like this drama because it didn’t meet their expectations of what they thought it should be. I think people went in thinking that it was going to be about Tae Wook and Hye Ran falling in love with each other again - and it is, somewhat - but that’s not really the point.

Does an ending have to make people happy? That’s the question, I guess. I loved it because nobody ended up happy, and that’s okay, because real life is like that sometimes. I love how heart wrenching and sad it all is. Tae Wook is a downtrodden man by the time he kills Kevin. We don’t see it because we’re blinded by his “devotion,” but he’s clearly become sick and tired of being the doormat, the loving husband. So when he accidentally kills Kevin, he’s filled with an insane amount of conflicting emotions. But mostly guilt.

And eventually, he can’t live with any of the guilt. It fits in perfectly with his character. This is a guy who switched to being a defense attorney to help the little guy. He’s got a strong moral compass, and when he’s not given the chance to confess... there can never be any happiness there.

Myung Woo was definitely plot device-y, but he’s probably Stockholmed himself into the situation he’s in. It seems like the entire time he always knows he’s going to confess to the murder - he repeatedly tells Tae Wook that’s he’s watching him, making sure that Tae Wook can take care of Hye Ran. Whether that makes sense, though...

I think it’d be interesting to rewatch this knowing that Tae Wook is the killer from the beginning.

I really like your way to organize your lists! My one difference is that I actually really love to watch the old stuff! I usually have an older drama going at the same time as the more current ones (for example, Jewel in the Palace!). Just because it looks dated doesn’t mean the story isn’t good! ???? These tips are fantastic, though!!

Title Misty Spoiler
I almost flip my lappy on the last 10 mins of the finale. What the heck the writer's objective on that last 3…
Neither of them were ever going to be happy together and be able to sweep something that massive unde the rug. We’ve seen their characterization throughout - Hye Ran is obsessed with using the news as a weapon to crush the corrupt, and Tae Wook became a public defense attorney to help the downtrodden. To hold such a huge secret like that between them... it would be living in abject misery for both of them. It’s so sad and poignant and perfect.

I gave it a 10 rating.Highly recommended to those looking for a mature drama with elements of mystery and romance.…
I’m with you. The ending was perfectly telegraphed by the characterization we’ve seen of everyone on screen. It’s going to have me thinking for days!

Such a great drama, and I really actually loved the entire thing, all the way through to the ending. It's an absolutely perfect representation of what most of what the series was trying to convey thematically. It's going to be extremely divisive, and I might be in the minority, but that's what I love about it. Bold and awesome.

Thanks for this list! The only Japanese variety I've seen is Gaki no Tsukai, which has a pretty robust subbing community. English subs are always piecemeal and difficult to come by, though!
