I was loving this drama, but I'm stalled at ep 19. The opening episodes had an original, engaging storyline, but now we're onto standard miscommunication tropes and stupid masks. Should I just give up or should I persist? Does it improve??

I loved Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 1 & 2. I'll definitely watch season 3. I'm currently watching the Prisoner of Beauty - that's pretty addictive.

I love all the ML but confess I dropped EB 1 half way through as I got bored. Waiting to see the reviews before renewing my IQYI subscription lol.

Yes, I'd forgotten that one. Ancient Detective is also great. But they're not so much modern police dramas.

Thirteen Years of Dust is outstanding, and I thought The First Shot, just aired on Youku, was also fantastic.

Yes. It is that bad. In fact, I put money on the rating dropping even further than it's current 7.8, unless there's a radical improvement.

I'm on episode 8 - giving it one more episode before bailing. It's okay, good martial arts, but overall pretty average, to the point of meh ..

Yang Mi is so famous, and I loved her in 10 MPB but everything else I've seen her has been pretty dire. I didn't have high expectations for this.

Basically, if people all over the world love The Untamed, and In Blossom, and all the other c-dramas we are addicted to, it gives me hope. I feel we're more bonded over men in chiffon and women with swords than we are divided by our differences. The world just needs more c-drama!!

hi Yes, I totally agree with you about The Untamed. It's a great drama - one of my all time favourites and just so powerful. But I think its popularity and and the relationship between the two MLs, must have created a lot of pressure on the actors. I enjoyed your review so far of this new drama. I'll definitely watch it. Once I get through the Legend of Shen Li!
