At first, I was kind of hesitant to give thid ago because of all the negative things I 've been hearing about the drama as a whole...but I'm glad I chucked my concerns aside and gave it a go anyway.
Loved the couple, the secondary chracters & most importantly the plot.
The good guy was the good guy NOT because the story need a hero..But because a lot of things in his life shaped him to be that way.
The bad guy wasnt the bad guy just because the plot needed a villain but because he made some unforgivable choices that didnt allow him to be otherwise.
Overall I really enjoyed the character development the most ???? Super realistic.
Shoutout to the OST & Background Score being great too.
The Good: Realistic - Dramatic - Great Cast - Great Dialogues
The Bad: Nothing really profound..I just found the episodes dragging a bit towards the end. This could have very easily been a 12 episode drama without any hassle.
Really found it lacking plot wise and the whole thing just seemed to drag a lot unecessarly in between. And the ending was a crescendo that never came.
Overall the drama had a lot wasted potential sadly .
is it bad when I don't watch this drama due to the leading actress
She actually acted better in this one compared to BRIDE OF THE WATER GOD....
I guess you could say the main two leads in this one had great chemistry...And they were a lot of great secondary characters & an interesting plot-line that made this worth a watch.
I liked the whole the overall I just found it a bit slow here & there.
6.6/10 Nothing really special about this drama overall..The whole thing finishes with very less fanfare than the build-up led us to believe which might end up disappointing viewers...
Average storyline + Average Characters ( IN fact I enjoyed the supporting cast's chemistry better than the main's.) + Moderately enjoyable OST = AVERAGE Drama.
The political part was the only believable aspect of the whole drama to me... Mrs.Song Yoon Ah played her character trememdously well..and so did everyone else in answer to the demand of the political aspect of the plot.
But the romance aspect of the plot turned out to do nothing for me..In fact I was massively dissapointed with their chemistry overall.
THE K2 is pretty popular enough to recommend itself..So if your really gonna go for it.Try to go in with low expectations overall.
Drama was filled with so many twist, turns and various backstories that this show ended up giving me a migraine ! (But then again I did binge watch this over a span of 3 days...So best to take my word for it with a pinch of salt. )
The ending was really disappointing though..Felt like all my time and frustrations over the characters life were a total waste.
I GET that this series is FANTASY but I still believe that the writers could have ended this series in a MUCH BETTER WAY if they could come up with all those twist for the latter 17 episodes :/
Plus points (+) for the aesthetically pleasing cinematography and great acting ! Negative Points (-) For the slow pacing of the story ! Felt like the whole plot was pushed to fill the last hour leaving the first half empty with no content.
I really feel like I wasted a LOT of my time watching this because of the way it ended (which in my opinion was one of the WORST ending of all time ) .
If I could write a letter to this show's writers...It would probably consist of a LONG LIST of complaints. I really hated the fact that the show was trying to ship the two leads together only in the LAST EPISODE while for the whole of the 9/10 episodes they had literally married Ha Ni to Shi Kyung :/ The whole U-Turn plot wise really seemed weird.
I get that this show got cut short to 10 episodes..But that doesn't mean I have to like it either. Surplus Princess had some potential and a great cast that could have carried it off but unfortunately the plot was too much of a dead weight.
Solid storyline, Good Chemistry & Great secondary chracters capable of giving a solid performance...
The downside was that this drama DRAGGED for quite a bit between sences,so much that at times I watched it at X2 speed at times.
OST wise...Nothing really stood out to me except for the Backgroud score which was repeated at certain key sences.
Overall a lovely drama..
Would not rewatch though.
A good way to kill time if your not looking for something mind-blowing or heavy ????

Would not recommend :/
P.S: I'm really tired of seeing Park So Dam as the 'Short haired tomboy that is super poor with no family at all'
I guess we are left to interpret it as we want.
