You give him too much credit hahaha! He's a snarky person in real life and it shows in his work. Check his Twitter, he constantly makes snarky comments. The reason why this series does not have a happy ending is because he does not understand the concept of a happy ending, and is therefore unable and incapable of writing one. He chooses depressing themes in all his work that mirrors his personality, actually. The writing is just one of many, many things that have gone wrong in this series. I actually wrote in the past that the leads do not look good at all and I still stand by that.
