You need to take a chill pill. This is a fluffy, over the top comedy with a lot of slapsticks humor. The Sikh…
Hey hun, please read the comment again - I'm in no way telling people to stop watching! This is a comment section, no? People are entitled to praise the show as well as critique it. Noone here is going to say that their comments are the only valid view of the series - and telling people who aren't cool with the scene to take a chill pill is quite invalidating of their feelings and opinions ? Also, comparing heroes and villains in movies to what I'm assuming is police brutality in the U.S is kind of tone deaf as the villains in most movies post an immediate threat to people's lives and the people killed in real life by the police are mostly killed because the cops are racist. It's not the same as using someones culture as a costume :)
I'm not condemning anyone who doesnt find the scene offensive, I jist want you guys to extend the same courtesy to those who do find the scene uncomfortable to watch!
Are South Asian countries like India and Sri Lanka really the butt of jokes in Thailand? I've never heard that…
Ah yes definitely, each country is different. I do think that prejudice is prevalent in all countries though - its just to which ethnic group they decide to target. Criticizing certain traits is a common shield people use to cover up racism though. Although I am not local to Thailand, I've only been there a couple of times, so no need to take my word for the political and social condition there! And youre right, it is a Thai production which would make sense to look at it through Thailand's political lens, but I do think that because South Asian cultures have been made fun of by the southeast/east asian community where ever I go (especially in the older population), and is quite often not considered as "asian" by a lot of people, so I do still this joke was made in poor taste. Not saying the producer/writer is inherently racist or xenophobic, but they could afford to take a kinder and more culturally sensitive approach to jokes! Jokes are better when they're not at the expense of someone else ? All opinion is my own though so each to their own! I do think Mork is a beautiful man and looks gorgeous on screen, so I'm not shaming anyone who is watching this at all

As I said in the comment, I am talking about Southeast Asia in general, not specifically Thailand. The society is largely anti dark skin and anti Indian jokes are deeply ingrained in the humour there. This is based on my personal experience living in Southeast Asia for 16 years AND being a part of the asian community overseas now that I don't live there anymore. Using Indian accent mockingly, "dirty" jokes about the skin colour and henna, mockingly copying head and hand movements - I have seen way too many of these and have confronted way too many people about this just to be spoken over by people saying "it's not racist, it's a joke". Just because they adapt certain parts of the culture does not mean that the people themselves are not disrespected. I used to live in Indonesia and our history is filled with Indian adopted cultures such as the language (historical scripts are written in Sanskrit), the main religion before the spread of Islam, the architecture, the music AND most Javanese and Balinese traditional dances are heavily influenced by Ramayana. Not saying that both countries follows the exact same blueprint - but the point I am trying to make is that adapting and using a part of a community's culture does not equal respect. I am not speaking for the whole southeast asian community though, and I am open to discussion so feel free to correct me provided that you're still respectful.
Okay so I started this because I liked the premise of it - the whole makeover thing and also the one-sided rivalry to love. And I guess it can be entertaining in some parts but it's missed the mark of being an enjoyable watch. The over the top comedic scenes and over-acting is incredibly hard to pull off and made pi's character very unlikeable to me. I also didn't like the whole kissing the wrong person thing - like Mork definitely know that Pi meant to confess to Muang Nan but he didn't stop him? I can't. The whole stalkerish shippers and the whole shipping people in real life doesn't sit well with me at all - based on my experience with asian countries/uni in general, people are still prejudiced to a certain degree, and normalizing this kind of shipping and potentially breed fujoshis who runs around shipping people irl is so anxiety inducing for me. Also reading the comments below - remember that people are entitled to give differing opinions, not all negative comments are derived from pettiness, some actually have genuine concerns about the content given. Calling everyone who has concerns regarding the Sikh scene a SJW is just not it :/ As someone who was raised in a Southeast Asian country I can safely say that any religion/culture originating from the South Asian countries are a lot of times made the butt of the joke in the society. Just because you don't think it's as bad as blackface doesn't mean that people wearing the culture as a costume and then acting like complete idiots is right.
wow awesome drama , i didn't watch the Japanese version , dose the game on it different from this version ?
In the Japanese version it's not actually a reality show.. But the things they play is practically the same :) and the guy in the Japanese version is to die for :3
Woo Jin gives me shivers and in a good way omg. I mean wtf when I watched this I wasn't expecting him to be nearly as cool as Akiyama in the Japanese version because I'm in love with Akiyama's character and actor. But damn Woo Jin was so damn great (not as great as Akiyama but I'm super biased so..)
