So they need over 9 months of editing? Because, as far as I know, they've already received their broadcast license, a drama like this wouldn't take that much to edit (post-production), it's not like it's a historical drama with visual effects, etc.

No, she was initially saved & trained by the ML. But then she simply leaves him and goes with the SML. And I do think she spent more time with SML than with the ML, which is very annoying.
She protected him, because his entire family was betrayed and killed by the Emperor/King and his closest friends (not the ML, though, the others). So it is understandably that he goes dark, but he kept killing innocent people and doing shady stuff, yet the FL always manage to find excuses and ended up protecting him many times, it's fucked up, I'm telling you.
At the end, she finally admits to herself that she does "love" the ML, and that he did so much for her (saving her multiple times, training her, loving her, etc) that she doesn't know how to "pay" him back. And in the last 15min or so, she finally regrets her decisions/choices, but it's too late. ML got played by the SML and ended up dying in front of the FL.
Ok, so, a couple of thoughts, and really, just me venting my anger and sadness out...
First of all, this show had so much potential until that moment when they framed the Duke, until that very moment, the show was 10/10, EASY. Everything was amazing, even though some things were still annoying and not very well written, it was great.
After that? The show goes downhill, and fast! Which usually happens in C-Dramas, for some weird reason.
Fine, y'all decided to write that FL was the most stupid and naive person in C-Drama history, that's fine, but do you also have to fuck up with the entire plot and story?
No, think about this for a second, ok? She was saved by the ML, right? He trained her, took care of her and her "sisters", the thought of literally everything he knew, and on top of that, he begins to love her, so what does our stupid and naive FL do? She decides to believe in literally anyone, BUT the one person that was there for her since day 1.
I am not talking about those little misunderstandings, I am talking about AFTER she found out the truth, I mean, shit, what happened there was way worse!! She just doesn't believe in him she decides to leave him multiple times, she LIES her teeth off to "protect" that annoying ass dude.
Fast forwarding, because 15 episodes were wasted on too much screen time of SML and SFL, our FL finally comes to terms with that well, in fact, ML was always there for her, and she "kind of" regrets her decisions. Guess what? Too late!
Ending: I do think that in some weird and messed up way, it ended up being a Happy Ending for both of them, at least, it made sense, after such decisions and storyline.
She was the one who messed up everything, and it was simply too late, which is fine, it's something that makes sense if you think about it for a second (given the story the writers decided to go with).
So hell yeah I am happy with the ending, in a way that it's real! I loved the way our ML was still as serious and composed as ever, even when he was (once again), betrayed, fooled, and well, you know, dying. At the very end, he was like: Live well and be happy with your choices & decisions - that's life lol. She brought everything upon herself, so yes, I am glad it "ended" the way it did. I wish it had an even cruel ending, because we only see the FL "regretting" her decisions for like 5min, and that's fucked up man.
This is easily the best C-Drama of all time. It has everything one could hope for. Really... From the beginning to the "end", it's flawless!
The story, the characters (everyone has a meaningful story and development), the entire cast, the chemistry between a couple of actors, the whole sentiment that goes into the story, and thank god they want to make this a trilogy, it's a masterpiece worth telling for many years...
That being said, I completely understand some of your comments and even reviews. It's normal, this is not for everyone's taste - which is fine!
But please, do release the second season in the upcoming months man...
It doesn't make sense man, Youku is literally the best channel, yet with this show... Why are they operating so different though? It's been like 2.30 hours and no subtitles for the forth episode, it's criminal man!!
