i've seen quite a few people saying they don't like this film, but actually i really liked it. it had a really peaceful and innocent vibe to it, and it's nice since i'm quite a poetic and artistic person, so this really fit my aesthetic. i felt like i could relate to yoichi as i'm very intorverted, and i find it really hard to make connections with people; however i have my art and the things that i love to keep me going. i do agree that the kissing scenes were awkward, but i feel that it kind of suited the characters, as i don't really think they are both very experienced with love - especially yoichi. and no, i haven't read the manga, i'm just solely basing this off the film. i don't know why, but sometimes i feel like i shouldn't compare a film to it's book as even though it's the same plot, they are two different art forms that are expressed in completely different ways; if that makes sense?
