I really really hate when male leads are written like this, and then the writers just expect us to love him as…
This is a coming-of-age story... you can't just expect the male lead to be THAT obsessed with her so early on in the story? They're two teenagers in love. It seems like you're projecting your own desires onto the male leads. Gu Jin isn't brooding, angsty and dramatic (atleast not yet). The trope you just mentioned is EXTREMELY over done in cdrama land. I love romance, but I dislike it when male leads are perfect 'lovers' from the get-go. The best male leads are those with some tact, logic, and have interests other than wooing the FL. Not every male lead has to go 'scorched earth' to prove his love for the FL.

Sometimes you can't help who you love, and trust me, there is plenty of people out there who have one-sided crushes on others who arent interested in them lol

Title Lost You Forever Spoiler
Anyone can explain to me what is going to happen in episode 35 36 from the teaser?
my hypothesis is that CX killed the people who tried to kill XY, but wouldn't admit why he did it (because it would be admitting XY's real idenity) and he's getting in trouble for it by the powerful clans. I believe XY is writing something to her father to help CX stay in the central plains. Also, I think she's sick in the preview for ep 36 because by then, she 'discovers' TJ's fiance is pregnant and is really upset.

I'm absolutely enthralled with Zhang Wan Yi's portrayal as the unfavored prince of Xiyan, Cang Xuan. I would easily label him one of the most complex characters I've see in cdramas thus far (the #1 spot would absolutely HAVE to go to Chen Kun's character in "The Rise of Phoenixes." ZWY's tone, microexpressions, and captivating eyes draw the watcher to the screen and feel his pain. This character could have easily fallen flat if given to the wrong actor. I can't imagine anyone else playing CX.
He is a noble in name, however lacks power as a political hostage in Haoling, and is even considered an outsider in his own Kingdom. He is thoroughly traumatized, and like Xiaoyao, fears abandonment so he is constantly on guard against others. He witnessed his mother commit suicide, and experienced the loss of an aunt, uncle, and father. He cannot even express his love to XY, and cannot deny Xinyue's advances because he understands his marriages will have to be politically useful in the future.
For hundreds of years, he's on the constant search for XY and lives with the constant guilt that he abandoned his closest companion. Like XL's character, he's shown a considerable amount of restraint even though, deep inside, he's an extremely passionate person. For example, when he saw the lights dimmed in XY's room when she was with TJ, he cuts himself with the knife to abate his growing anger. Likewise, when he was going through drug withdrawals, he bites his hand to avert hurting XiaoYao. He's perfected the fake smile and is hardly ever honest with others; he knows how to play the game and keep appearances to get what he wants.
This contrasts nicely with XL's character who has only ever been his self; he doesn't feel the need to masquerade himself or act pretentious because unlike Xuan, he does not seek personal power.
Because of Xuan's past, he sees the absolute need for power. Without power, he will not be able to protect his loved ones, especially XY, who's true identity puts her at risk (as you can see in the latest episode with the attempted assassination! I can completely understand why he falls for XY. After all, she is the only one who 'gets him' and gets to see his authentic self, alongside being charismatic and beautiful. Sadly, he cannot express his love to her because his status is not fixed yet, so he pushes her to others (notice how every time he asks XY to see Jing, the two end up clearing up their problems and get closer). ZWY's eyes are so full of longing... I absolutely LOVE his acting!!!
Overall, I love this drama and the individuality of every character! Also I adore how the majority of it isn't dubbed-- I love to hear the natural inflections and tones of the actor's voices instead of hearing the same voice actor over and over again~

im so confused why xy never asked xl why he tried to kill CX the second time. Also, I wonder why no one has ever mentioned the closeness of the cousins in a romantic light. Neither XL or TJ know their biggest opponent is actually CX

I believe he didn't use any of his power because he was prepared to avenge XY and couldn't afford to lose power

I know I'm swimming against the tide here, but I dislike both CX and FFB/XL. CX pretends to be the loyal brother/cousin,…
it's not lust, it's love. He's in love with her. and he dislikes Jing not only because he's jealous, but because Jing literally still has a marriage commitment with another woman while simultaneously pursuing XY. He's overly protective of her
