This is such a lovely interview. You can tell he's a very humble, grateful and thoughtful person. The success is well deserved and I admire his perseverance. 8 years is a long time.
I still can't believe it. I'd learnt long ago that the media shouldn't ever be trusted fully and there's always two sides to the story - Gone Girl gave me this perspective. It's so difficult to master the craft of acting, let alone achieve success and recognition for it worldwide. After Parasite, we are all are looking forward to see more of his work, and I'm struggling to grasp that this will never happen.
There's people who clearly have a vendetta against him. All the willful negligence and lack of conscience caused this tragedy that should've never happened. More so right before the new year.
The media and those who were responsible for this case took Lee Sun Kyun's life, destroyed a family and robbed the world of an exceptionally brilliant artist. I hope he's in a better place.
It's surprising to hear JCW said he didn't want to work on action genre works because he is so good. I hadn't thought about it till now, but age likely had a part in his statement.
The thing is with the industry is this term called "type". JCW became known for Healer and the K2 and it made sense for these genres to be his "go-to", but it's extremely confining for an actor to be shoved under one category just because they are good at it. He should be allowed to explore other characters' stories, emotions and experiences that differ from the "secret agent"/gritty role, because that what it means to be a performer. we have seen him in Empress Ki and The Sound of Magic, and he was exceptional in those roles.
Fans would watch because it's JCW's portrayal of a new character, not because JCW is playing in an action drama 'again' and therefore only making it worthy of a watch.
Seeing Youtube where LYX and Song Yi handed out the "hong bao (red packets)", I think they just started filming. Hope everything goes well, the poster shooting is very elegant and beautiful.
Having started TTEOTM I can see why Luo Yunxi is so well loved. I finally understand the pain of fans waiting for this drama to air, when I didn't before lol
