I prefer this version over original korean drama: it is better paced, makes more sense and is overall more coherent, but I'm still not a huge fan of both. Time loops as a concept to explore in movies and tv shows can be great, but Signal uses them in one of the most boring way imaginable. Some problems with the plot could be resolved in season two, but as a stand-alone season it is very weak, I am surprised the rating for this show is so high even for japanese version. I am glad some subplots were dropped and cop-from-the-past was less annoying here than in the korean version, also japanese version is more realistic and less frustrating to me, but it's use of time manipulating is still faithful to the original and therefore very sloppy. People complain it wasn't sad or emotional enough, but I found korean version to be equally lame in this aspect - sure, there is tension, but almost no release, so it's just frustrating to me, not sad.

what about those gross rapers and killers? in the "bad ending" they were at least punished, but in the "happy" one? even if one girl was saved in the end, someone probably just took her place in this version. sad ending would make waaaay more sense, now i just feel i've wasted hours of my life on a story that was completely deleted and rewritten. some things have never been explained, other just don't make sense. last 4 episodes felt rushed, only to be completely destroyed by half-assed ending. small mistakes could be forgiven easily, but weak happy ending just for the sake of having one? why should i even care about main girl's happiness if she's not even the same character i've just spent hours and hours with?
