The lore is intentionally left a bit ambiguous, but here is how i understood it

1. >!The Realm of Gwi isnt Hell. Its more like a spiritual limbo where souls consumed by resentment and vengeance become trapped instead of moving on.!< The East Palace sits on a place with strong yin energy, making it a gateway between the human world and this realm.

2. The giant creature (Primordial Gwimae) Gu cheon meets isnt necessarily the ruler of all ghosts but a primordial being that embodies overwhelming yin energy. In exchange for its power, Gu Cheon essentially offers his soul/freedom. Thats why the chain remains on his hand in the finale, the debt hasnt been fully paid leaving the door open for a S2.

3. The Saeng gang family simply inherits the ability to see and communicate with spirits through king's maternal bloodline. Drama never explains why they have this gift or where it originated.

Hard disagree. The ML's character was basically jobless, and when he was forced to do something, it was only because his life was at stake. If you say he could've just become a soul and killed them all, that might be true, but the ML clearly mentions that he doesn't want to become an Agwig. It was either die or save them. On top of that, he gradually grew attached to the FL, since she risked her life to save his.

if anyone's watched this, I have a question regarding the big snake spirit. I understand that i feeds on the negative thoughts and drives the person to the extreme end.. but is there anything im missing.? Like how did it came into being in the first place? Is it because of so many killings that have taken place in the palace? Or is there any other reason?
