The dad may have been the leader of the 10 demon cultivators that leveled Qilian Mountain. He is apparently responsible for locking the guests in that Hall fire. I wonder if Mu Sheng was responsible for the Resentful Lady gaining access to the Mu Mansion. That may be why he has suffered partial amnesia and why he is reluctant to tell Mu Yao that he is a demon.

Why does Xiao Xianchen, the lord of Lin have such hatred for the Ji? ep. 11 0:46 He believes that the Ji killed first wife and child. She was stricken with the red spots. Her maid reported that she went to the River God temple to pray and that some Ji came and startled her. Gen Zisu says that it can't be true. He has stayed with them and they aren't like that. So we can assume that he has just returned from Sushui. Their Mother killed herself to seek justice for the Ji, by why is not explained. What is interesting is that when his brother opens the bixi box, he says, "I can finally go back." What does that mean as Zisu was the first to reach Sushui alive. Is it supposed to be I can finally go there?

The FL is part of a demonized clan called the Ji. Most have sought shelter in a hidden area called Sushui. It is across the river Sushui and outsiders cannot enter it. They are called monsters and said to drink blood. But they also have powers to control people and one special power object is the Bixi, said to give enormous powers. But the truth may be different. I'm stuck on ep. 16 where the ML enters Sunshui and meets the FL. A shift in tone. I found out why the ML's older brother/Ruler of Lin hates the Ji. He blames the death of his first wife and their child on them. Their Mother also killed herself to seek justice for the Ji people.

I'm re-watching it again. If you find out the connection between their Mother, her suicide and the JI, please post a note here. I'm doing the same. Yes, the ML is more straight laced and the FL can be too bubbly. It was better when she was more covert under his nose. I begrudge them a little as the wrong couple get a HE.

I liked it save the ending. Some have said that the first third is pretty good. The middle part OK. The last third after they return to the city less so. I think that the last third is not bad. There is only one irredeemable evil person. Another bad person who is morally grey. The others are good in their hearts. The romance isn't as hot as Kill Me Love Me, But it is sweet. Watch it but be prepared to have a heavy heart at the end. Not tissues, but a hole in your heart. A really big hole.

I think that the memory forgetting spell was the bracelet. And they have it to show the Resentful Woman that Qinghuan didn't cheat on her but was bewitched. Either show the bracelet or have Mu Sheng and Miaomiao describe what happened to her and the effect it had on him. At least that is what I think. Thank you.

Yes, it is good. Cheng Shi who appears uncomplicated can see things more clearly than others. "Such a cat might feel lonely and might need a friend." and the Mingjin Gang are really more than the sum of its parts. They can see through a brick wall if given enough time. And Ren Min is pretty charming here, too.

I think that it will come up when they confront Resentful Woman and her sense of betrayal. It's because of the bracelet and that they will eventually understand how it worked on Miaomiao.

Sorry but Grandmother seeing the black bracelet on Miaomiao had a greater impact than him being a good guy. Watch ep. 20 Start at 6:50 Where the aunt explains its powers and why the Gandmother will freak out if she see it. Then go to 12:04. He doesn't do anything until he fears that he about to be exposed because of the golden bracelets.

Next episode Mu Sheng and Mu Yao display their badges. But Fuyi doesn't. Foreshadowing? Miaomiao doesn't. too. You will know that scene when you watch it.

The Empress wants to secure the Zhao's families future. It is alluded by Master Tao that if Qinghuan, her son didn't become the CP, then the Empress' son, Qinghuan's biggest rival would destroy the Zhao family as potential threats. The current CP is unnamed. The marquis has a shot to become the next CP, so their marriage should make the Zhao Family and the Dowager Consort and Min safe.

At the scene of the destruction of Qilin Mountain. When the Empress said that humans and demons can't be together, the marquis and the princess gave her a look. That was Mu Sheng thinking about he and Mu Yao and to a lesser extent about Miaomiao. Miaomiao was thinking about him and his sister. She knows that unless things are changed, Mu Yao will kill Mu Sheng because he is part demon. Mu Yao is rigidly uncompromising at this point. The truth about Resentful Woman should finally change her attitude.

The Resentful Woman is the real victim here. The black bracelet robbed her of her and his true love.

Actually if his grandmother had seen the black bracelet on Miaomiao's wrist she would have known that he wasn't playing fair. 10 years ago it lead to many deaths. So he gambled that Miaomiao would have learned to love him. He was wrong and his anguish was karma paying him back. He is a weak character who selfishly tried to get his way. Sorry but my feelings are harsh.

The bracelet's power is a secret so the gang would not know anything about its power. Even Miaomiao didn't know what it was doing. It isn't the first time that the bracelet wrecked Mu Sheng's life. This time Fuyi's confession was sincere and he was admitting her love, but Mu Yao had already decided to push everyone away and handle the demon by herself. The other time his confession was a taunt to break her heart and spirit.

The fact that the father had the bracelet and still had a hole in his heart and left the witch with no memories point to the witch not giving him the bracelet. The bracelet made Miaomiao forget Mu Sheng. It shouldn't work the other way, for example, if Mu Sheng had forcibly taken her away.

Both actress have a mixed reputation. Either love them or hate them and there is a feeling that they get a pass because of their looks. This negative feeling dragged their co-stars down, undeservedly or not.

The bracelet was used to make the Marquis' Father, Qinghuan, to forget the witch. That's why she felt betrayed and became the Resentful Woman. The fact that he held it until he died and had a hole in his heart would point to someone else giving him the bracelet. I would say that it was the Marqui's real mom who gave him the bracelet and bewitched him. So he abandoned her and her child. That is why a young Mu Sheng fatally stabbed Qinghuan 10 years ago. I think that the marquis' Mom may be part of the Mu Family so that's why they were wiped out seven years ago. Or Mu Yao's Father, Mu Huajiang, was the leader of the 10 demon catchers who leveled the mountain. The Empress Dowager and her efforts to secure her son as the CP is connected to that but her later effort to marry Min to Ruoshi is a separate thing and a misdirect. The destruction of the Qilin mountain may connect the two story lines. It was done to bury evidence of Mu Sheng's Mom's existence and kill her, too. It set Mu Sheng on his journey to kill the Marquis' dad before making his way to the Mu family. Or maybe Huajiang found an injured Mu Sheng by the destroyed Qilin Mountain and took him in but Mu Sheng then went to stab Qinghuan. Why he forgot this is not known or why he didn't connect the marquis with his Father is not known. Maybe because Qinghuan was the son of the Dowager Consort and marquis' father was a lower marquis.
