Me too. To have someone's reputation be sullied that she has an extramarital affair and bore a child from someone else other than her husband and not even being able to defend her reputation. I also feel so bad for Jang Uk. I can't imagine the emotions he must have gone through when Park Jin told him that he was born out of his mother having an extramarital affair. He shouldn't have to go through that. It is not right to hold children responsible or accountable for the so called sins or so called indiscretions of their parents.

I agree. The fantasy aspect is done really well. This show does seem to have received some flak from Chinese netizens for "cultural appropriation and plagiarism" due to similarities to Chinese fantasy dramas like "Ever Night" and what not and I'm like they've done Alchemy Of Souls so much better than some of the Chinese fantasy dramas that I've seen.

The blue mark may not always be visible or could be at a spot not easily recognizable. Naksu's blue mark was in her eyes which is barely visible and is fading due to eye drops.

Teacher Lee seems like such a mysterious character who had a powerful entrance in the show. Any theories on whether he is a good guy or a bad guy? I have a feeling he is a good guy, but we shall see.

I have not seen Ever Night, but I have seen The Untamed and Ashes of Love and I see no similarity with those two at all, except I have to admit the scene where Jang Uk gets flogged reminded me of a similar scene in The Untamed when Wang YiBo's character Lan Wangji gets flogged. But that does not make it plagiarism.

I agree this show is mindblowing. So good. One of my favorite. One of the reasons for low score could be because of claims of Cultural appropriation and plagiarism from Chinese Wuxia films. Chinese netizens claimed that “Alchemy of Souls” copied the Chinese drama “Ever Night". It is argued that in terms of costume, character setting and plot, the Korean derivative is highly similar with "Ever Night", The Untamed and Ashes of Love, which netizens attached comparison photos and accused the drama of plagiarism.

Yul and Dang-gu are like the ultimate wingmen. I love them both. They're both so supportive.
