I think there was a conscious decision to turn another tired BL trope on it's head where there's almost a cardinal rule in Thai BL that the besties of the male leads have to be a couple too.

It seemed to show a gay utopia. It seemed too good to be true at times. I don't think it is realistic and unfortunately does not reflect the sorry state of LGBT rights in this world.
