Agreed! It was especially hard to watch the scene when the King touched the Queen's Dictionary and comment that…
I think Soyong and Bonghwan splitting back into two bodies means they will not have each other's feelings anymore. Soyong will not be pining for concubines or HongYeon anymore, and Bonghwan will not have a romantic feeling for Cheoljong or a filial feeling towards Soyong's father. Ah I see, your issue with the work is that they were not faithful to the novel. Well, maybe they should have been more clear about that at the beginning of production, but imo they were always very upfront about that. I wish you luck finding more stories that are relatable to you.

I mean, he did try to blame his confusion on Soyong. It still bothers him, because he doesn't want to lose his grasp on his own identity as Soyong's identity overtakes him. I don't think SY did everything, but she was definitely there and her influence steadily increased over the course of the show. Idk, I feel like my interpretation of BH is much more respectful than yours. If you think BH was in total control, are you ok with him pretending to be the girl that saved Cheoljong as a child, pretending to be the woman who was driven to suicide, pretending to be the real daughter to Soyong's father? Just wholly pretending to be Soyong for the rest of his life and never letting her loved ones know that she died? That's dark af I think my interpretation that BH helped Soyong express herself and Soyong showed BH how to be more selfless is much more kind to both characters

Nah, we're clearly shown Soyong is there too. When Cheoljong returns the children's book to Soyong, she smiles and says it's finally returned to its rightful owner after eight years. Is that BH lying? No, that's Soyong accepting the book. When Soyong comforts her father and says she will live the life her mother wanted for her, is that BH making a sick promise about a dead woman's daughter? No, that's Soyong. BH's feelings about the sex are coming from Soyong's feelings about it, because Soyong is the one who experienced it and he can feel what she feels. Cheoljong knows that his wife always acts differently, that's why he notices she's not saying weird words anymore but laughs it off at the end. What would really upset him would be an ending if he learned Soyong was actually dead and he never got a real chance with her after being so prejudiced to her. I mean, we're shown that Soyong is an innocent woman who was driven to suicide because she was afraid to live as she could not stand putting her husband's life in danger. I think most viewers are happy she stays alive and in her own body.

But we know that Soyong feelings/soul are taking over. Why would BH care about Soyong's dad as a real father? They are not BH's feelings, they are all Soyong's.
BH still wants to go back, he doesn't say that he wants to stay. He wanted to see if Cheoljong survived to take down the Kims.
Idk I read the director was always clear they would change many things from the novel.

BH hates the king until Soyong's feelings come back. Soyong's the one who loves the king and made a baby with him, BH wanted to sleep with Hongyeon lol
