Very well done! There is something you missed in the hit by a car trope. Oftentimes a friend is waiting on the person who is the target.. They see the car coming, rush out to push their friend out of the way and then stand there as the car hits them. Wouldn't you want to use your momentum from saving your friend to save yourself also. Cut to the hospital. The person who has been hit head on by an automobile is in the bed with a bandage on his/her forehead. Black cap plus black masked guy walking thru a crowd with no one giving him a second thought. That always kills me. You should do a compilation of evil mother in laws. There are some real doozies.

Thanks for the recommendation! Just watched the first episode and it was amazing, I am watching criminal minds and falsify and this is definitely a cut above.

I think I just might be the most atypical drama fan of all. Didn't discover this wonderful world of asian drama until the ripe old age of 62. I am 68 now so I have been at it for just six years. My introduction to this magical world was thru movies. There was so much hype about "Oldboy" I watched it on netflix and loved it. Then it was "the catcher" and "Maunday Thursday" and my favorite movie of all time "The Classic".Then on youtube I clicked on "Shining Inheritance" thinking it was a movie. Then I was totally hooked. Watched every genre at first but now I just search for the dark melodramas.. Now I am back on the hunt for something new. Just hate to get to the end of a drama that I am completely absorbed in. I think "autumn tale" was my second drama. One of these days I am going to watch it again. Sometimes I think I should be rewatching dramas that I loved when I am disappointed in the new stuff. But still I watch the new series that are running. "Signal" and "Memory" were both brilliant. Dramaload and Gooddrama.net are my goto places for drama. Use to love Viki for the comments and info that people provided as the dramas would unfold. Got a lot of good leads from Viki. Now MDL leads me to my new dramas. Articles like yours are invaluable. I really appreciate the people who take the time to provide newbies a starting point about what to watch.

Haven't watched any J-dramas. I am going to use your recommendations and others that have chimed in on the thread. Just watched the first two episodes of Orange days and I am liking it so far. Kind of strange to see the students smoking. In six years of K-drama I have never seen anyone actually smoke. Kind of different seeing the male lead nice from the get go. In K-drama the male lead usually transforms from a total jerk into mr. wonderful. This is kind of refreshing. Thanks for posting this article and giving me some dramas to get my feet wet.

I just couldn't take this drama. Usually I give anything I watch at least one episode so I can get hooked, but I couldn't make it thru the first thirty minutes. For some reason I just didn't like the characters from the get go. I am a guy so I focus on the female leads and what I saw just didn't cut it for me.

My very first drama was Shining Inheritance. Your article came at the perfect time for me. Just been having trouble sinking my teeth into anything lately. These multiple personality shows lately just didn't cut it for me. In your list there are several series that I think will be spectacular.Going straight to war of the arrows and then I Think I will rewatch The Princess' Man.

I am not here for history lessons. I watch these dramas for entertainment. I have come to expect bad endings and this drama did not disappointment. She goes to Yuan to kill her fathers murderer and ends up falling for this clown who has absolutely no redeeming qualities? Usually in these historical dramas I am completely entranced by the heroine [I am a guy]. But in this one by the end I was hoping someone would chop her head off. I wish that I would have had the foresight of the commenter that bailed after the opening scene.

Well yet another terrible ending, After wang yu was killed by the pussy emperor I was pretty much done. Flew thru the rest of the two episodes skipping all the scenes with Nyang and that putrid POS of an emperor. Could not stand the way Nyangs character evolved. Glad to see her reign was pretty much awful and Yuan got a beat down. So after all her machinations and betrayal of Wang Yu it was for nothing.

When I first started with K-drama I was strictly a marathon man. Then for some strange reason I started watching dramas that were currently airing. I never dropped a drama during my marathon period. But now when I follow from week to week there is a different dynamic at work. I obsess over the dramas to the point where if they take a turn I don't like I will drop them rather than battle on to the end. I don't like how so many of these revenge dramas just completely run out of gas. They start cleaning up the bad people that you want to see completely crushed. I want to see people paying for their sins. Kill the bastards! They didn't have any problems killing people throughout the dramas.

I want to watch Three Days and the time travel drama. Going to wait until they are about three quaters of the way done. This waiting week to week is a killer. So much more fun to wait until they are in the can and then tackle them in few large gulps.

Just watched the last episode of OhLaLa couple. I thought the dreaded second lead syndrome was finally going to…
Don't watch the last episode for sure. Just quit while you are ahead and pretend that hyun woo got the girl. The people commenting at Vike were aghast at the change of events. I so wanted that hateful mother in law to get her comeuppance but again was disappointed. I just get so involved in the characters it just tears me up to see these things end like they invariably do. Even though they spent the last several episodes trying to rehabilitate the soo nam guy I still hated his guts for the twelve years of hell his family put that woman thru.

Just watched the last episode of OhLaLa couple. I thought the dreaded second lead syndrome was finally going to be beat. Alas he went down in flames. I wanted to put my fist thru the computer screen. One of my first kdramas was Shining Inheritance. This was my first exposure to the second lead character. The first lead was the penultimate jerk the second lead absolutely perfect. This latest disaster of an ending just might cure me of my Kdrama addiction. Totally disgusted.

Thanks for the friend request. I am up here in the Panhandle of florida, some people call it the redneck riviera, Pensacola. I joined the site to get leads on what to watch next. Picked up a couple just from some of your comments. Thank you very much.

I was inspired to try korean movies by people talking about "OldBoy". I was entranced by that movie. Then Somehow I found Maunday Thursday on Youtube and that movie floored me. Then I clicked on Shining Inheritance thinking it was another movie. By the end of the first episode I was totally hooked. Haven't watched anything else for the last two years. Just figured out how to add movies to my list and was stunned at how many I have watched. I guess I am easy to please because I have finished every drama I have started. I am more often than not unhappy with the endings but that doesn't deter me from pressing on. The feeling when I finish something I really like is to go back and watch it over.

A dummies guide to historical dramas would be interesting. I love the 'interrogation" scenes. The poor sod being "interrogated" would be tortured until he told the "interrogators" what they wanted to hear or they just died. Another thing that always got me was how a prisoner would have his sentence commuted from being drawn and quartered to a simple beheading!

Got some good laughs out of this article. When I started watching these K-Dramas whenever the heroine started with a nose bleed you knew the end was near.
