Hiiii! I don't wanna start an argument, because I believe both of you have valid points. However, I think someone should say that we are discussing a TV Show based on a book. It is not something intended to be compared to real life.
I think it is completely valid to be disappointed in the casting for not being reflective of the source material, this being the book. I understand where you are coming from in terms of real life. But we aren't discussing a show based on real life, we are discussing a show based on a book. And being honest, the casting of Yoon as Kamol doesn't fit well with the description of Kamol in the book. This isn't about mafia boss stereotypes in society, but rather about the description of Kamol the mafia boss in the book.
I think you are also mistaking homophobia as sexism. It is sexist to say that all mafia men must be stereotypically 'masculine'. But this comment is not homophobic, because it is unrelated to sexuality or gender. It does relate to gender expression, but this generally falls under sexism. However, I don't think it is sexist to say that an actor didn't fit the books description of a character.
If the show was not based on a book, then I'd agree that the comment was sexist, and that mafia men can come in all shapes, sizes, and appearances. Because in reality, mafia men do. And some mafia are even women or non-binary. But its not based on reality, we are comparing the show to whether it accurately reflects the source material, the book.
I think your comment was quite argumentative and 'name-calling'. Especially with your use of the words 'ignorant' and 'embarrassing'. Calling people out for bad behaviour, homophobia, sexism and even racism should not be done as an attack. Because then people will feel the need to defend. It should be done from an education stand point and kindly. This way people will be inclined to listen to you, rather than fight back. Instead of telling people to 'look it up' and then they'll see their wrong, a better way might be to give the statistics and facts yourself.
Maybe say, hey I'm not sure if you intended this, but I think your choice of the word 'baby face' might be sexist. Did you know that in the US ... (insert your example) ... so just because someone looks a certain way doesn't mean they aren't a good fit for a mafia role.
You could then define a few things and provide examples, but in a positive, education based standpoint.

I have realised that...no matter what the comments and reviews say, if you haven't watched it you won't truly understand what everyone whos seen it is trying to warn about and will probs watch it because of the warnings/curiosity. I am warning you now...even tho this will probably make you want to watch it more ... don't watch it. I fell to curiosity, don't make the same mistake. Unless this genre is your thing, your well over 18 and its not your first tango with dark and dirty, don't watch it!
idk wat to think. I really loved the show, but cliff hanger ending. Plus they haven't explained what happened between Jerry breaking up with Damien because Damien wanted kids and them having kai. There is serious holes in their back story that havent been cleared up. I need season2 soo bad. There was too many cliff hangers for their not to be!
