the music in this is surprisingly good considering how old this drama is, although the jazzy disco background music that came on every other conversation was a bit too much.
oh my venus and sweet home sweet honey look really good. sweet home sweet honey kind of sounds a bit like 'high society' only i'm hoping it will be better
great article! loved the gifs! when I first started watching dramas the first things I noticed were:
'ALOT of wrist grabbing
almost always poor girl rich guy scenario where is family consists of a bunch of biased A holes who oppose the relationship
a jealous ex girlfriend who is determined to suck the soul out of the main male lead
a dense main female lead who is too nice and naive and doesn't get things till they hit her in the face (sometimes even literally)
a rude main male lead who could probably be considered verbally abusive and has some type of trauma from childhood to which the main female lead helps him out
a really nice second male lead who is actually good to her and deserves her but always in the end gets friendzoned because we've already established that the main female lead is dense
there is almost always a drinking scene where the main female lead loses use of her legs and has to be carried back home
and a crap ton of misunderstandings so basically...you nailed it lol
so i'm on episode 9 and i'm dying to know if i'm the only one who thinks the main female lead is a bit of a piece of crap. I feel so bad for the young kang gun woo who actually likes this two timing piece of crap. other than the lack of chemistry between leads and poorly developed romance, I rather enjoy the mean kang gun woo's character and blunt rude outbursts as well as the whole classical concept.
Great article! scent of a woman is what got me interested in him as well. I had no idea he was in a historical drama though! that just made my day, one of my fav actors + my favorite genre = masterpiece
I love Ming Xio Xi character so much more than Jang Di's. She's funnier and although her style and haircut is cringe worthy, shes automatically 10 times more awesome than Jang Di because she knows martial arts and has round house kicked more than 1 person by the second episode. Go Xiao Xi! put those ugly toe socks to good use!
great article! I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who was bothered about the whole hidden abuse thing in dramas.…
I've noticed that too. Even though most of the time they give me more reasons to hate them then like them, I still can't help but wish the male female lead would have some of their qualities such as not being so helpless all the time. I quite liked Doctor X for this reason because she was smart, capable, and overall just plain awesome with her 'I don't care about anything and get out of my way you useless ignorant piece of crap for a human being,' attitude. Michiko gonna do what Michiko gonna do and I wish there were more characters like her out there in dramaland
great article! I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who was bothered about the whole hidden abuse thing in dramas. I've also noticed that almost all story lines in Kdramas include very capable, often rich, and extremely intelligent male leads and an uneducated dull female lead who doesn't have a lot of talents or abilities. its okay for one or two dramas but when its almost EVERY drama it makes me feel like dramaland is trying to tell me that men are usually more successful and better than women and women are only concerned about marriage and love with no ambitions what so ever. Even the dramas that include an ambitious hardworking intelligent female lead almost always involve a male lead that is even more intelligent than her and is mostly responsible for every 'personal' achievement she's ever made. It would be nice to see more dramas that involve a female lead who makes it to top and becomes successful without the help of a man. This is why Empress Ki is one of my favorite dramas, she was always stronger or just as strong as her male counter parts and used her own abilities to take down her foes. best heroine ever.
This had the potential to be really good but it was really just boring and I hated the chemistry. The best couple moment I thought was their first encounter in the elevator and I was practically frothing at the mouth at how much of a manipulative douche hog he was throughout the rest of it. the only character I really liked was the brother and the main female lead. she never got on my nerves and she was such a beautiful character. the main male lead had some serious inferiority complex going on and don't even get me started on how many times I had to hear his sob story about how his father had to practically beg at his job (lets just forget that his dad was also extremely happy with his life and that they were never so poor that they had want for food either so it wasn't like they were even suffering) He always acted like he had a harder life and loved to play the pity parade victim game which annoyed me. To me, the chaebols seemed to have a harder life then anyone with their terrible parents and loveless households so excuse me for not playing a pity violin with your pathetic pity story. Also, I know a lot of people adored her friend Ji Yi but to be honest I thought she was an awful friend. At first she was good but as it wore on she was really annoying and had no sense of loyalty. and don't even get me started on that crap turd of a father the main female lead had. The only three things he could do was yell (I don't think he even knew how to talk in a normal voice) eat (which he did in almost every scene) and throw random crap at his wife. all in all, the chemistry in this whole thing was non existent because you always had to wonder, is this guy for real or is he being a tool again? and most of it was just boring.
why do I even watch Chinese historical dramas? everyone dies. every time. is it against the script writers religion…
indeed. Sound of the Desert had a happy ending and I thought the chemistry was great. same for Lock Heart Jade. I was so happy with who she ended up with.
haha thanks! I rather enjoyed your profile as well. thanks for the friend request by the way =)
happy birthday! I know not of who you are and I haven't seen a single thing you've been in but you share the same day and year I was born and for that I happen to feel a peculiar sense of kinmenship with you.so happy B day bro =)
great article! I loved this drama but I did have some questions mostly just about the whole twin switch thing like if neither of them died, then who the hell did they find on that beach? How did that body even get there and how did they conclude it was Eun Bi? I can't remember the drama ever really addressing these questions, they more or less just kind of distracted you with other things like Tae Kwang and your burning desire for the Eun Bi to end up with Tae Kwang
why do I even watch Chinese historical dramas? everyone dies. every time. is it against the script writers religion to make at least one historical drama have a happy ending or what? and I don't mean the kind of happy ending where they are together in the afterlife cause that's not happy that just sucks. why do they have to make the story so good and addicting and then murder us with the ending ever time!
