Both Tharn and Phaya are reborn as humans, not as Naga and Garuda, they shouldn't have any powers. And as a human…
Yes it's definitely a deviation as I don't think the story of Nandopananda has anything to do with the series? Because Nandopananda's story and the story told by Wansarat cannot be any more different. The writers may have altered the story to fit more with the context of the series. And did I tell you how much I'm enjoying these arguments with you? Your comments have actually made me look at some parts of the series a little differently.
Both Tharn and Phaya are reborn as humans, not as Naga and Garuda, they shouldn't have any powers. And as a human…
Yes I totally agree. There's no point of us arguing about a naturally occurring phenomenon. But if we go by the context set by the series then we have to believe in the myths. Also the Nagas existed long before modern day Buddhism. The story told by Wansarat is definitely of the time when God's used to roam the earth. Hence why Lord Buddha was respected by the Nagas when he came down to earth. In stories and myths like these we have to put aside our modern thinking and think of a world where all these myths actually existed. If we actually start debating about these things then we'll just have to go round and round. There's no explanation, just believing and not believing.
Both Tharn and Phaya are reborn as humans, not as Naga and Garuda, they shouldn't have any powers. And as a human…
I think the monk cannot be touched by Doc is because monks are have this direct connection to the divine beings (like their souls are more connected to the Gods since they've been ordained and stuff) and they know stuff which the rest of us don't (they are the messenger from the Gods). So since the Abbott here is on the good side he is definitely protected by the Gods which explains why doc can't touch him.
As for Tharn's amulet saving Phaya, obviously Tharn had to be present to save him because the amulet was with Tharn. Tharn himself said that he he just knew that thing (Tharn's amulet) was going to save them. So no I'm still not convinced that Tharn's got Naga power. And as for Phaya's amulet I've seen it in action only once when he left claw marks on doc's shoulder. Most of the time it only helps keeping the doc away from him (remember how doc was so happy when he saw that the amulet was not on Phaya while he was in coma?).
And yes Phaya fighting doc was neither a flashback nor a delusion. But you also have to remember that while Phaya was in that realm he was one with his Garuda self. It was clearly shown how he was also in pain when his Garuda self was in pain. So him momentarily regaining his powers in that realm is justified. Yes we definitely couldn't rule out the possibility of them regaining their powers in the next ep but for me till now they don't seem to have any divine powers.
Both Tharn and Phaya are reborn as humans, not as Naga and Garuda, they shouldn't have any powers. And as a human…
In the series it was just mentioned to be a Naga and not a Naga "King". So the fireballs are to show respect to just Buddha. And nowhere is it said that the Abbott is a Naga king.
Now if the Abbott got reincarnated as a human then that will make him just a mere mortal so his rank will be much lower than Chalothorn (and not higher even if he was a Naga king like you mentioned). As for Tharn, I really don't think he got back his powers. It was his amulet (not Phaya's amulet but the one Tharn always wears like a pin on his shirts) that protected them from the possessed Narong. Because that is how reincarnation in the mythologies that I've grown up with works. As long as you're not one of the highest ranking Gods you don't retain any of your powers and memories in your next lives. But I would very much like to be proven wrong as it'd be really cool if they get back their powers (maybe from their amulets?).
My only question is if Phaya's got Wansarut's soul in his amulet then whose power is in Tharn's amulet?
Also it really didn't look like Tharn was kidnapped by Chalothorn. Because the same hued power that saved Phaya enveloped Tharn and took him to Phaya. But I very much agree with you that they could've shown this part better.
...the background music of this series, is really great and works for the scenes...😍🥰😘❤️
GIRL YESSSS! Someone finally said it. We're not talking enough about the background scores. The scores have this mystic, rustic kind of ancient feeling to them. Makes the scenes feel holy. Which makes sense since they are the literal reincarnation of deities.
And the two scores used for the NC scene? Perfection. They made the already beautiful scene all the more heartachingly pure. The scores alone were enough to show the longing of the two leads. The instrument with the soft harmonizing? Pure bliss.
Also the two BGMs they always play when there's something creepy going on (like in ep 2 when Chalothorn lures Phaya in the water) and during the chase or the fight scenes. Those two scores alone spikes the adrenaline rush and lays out how dire the situations actually are. Notice how also in both of these there's soft vocal harmonizing with the instrument.
Again recently they used one in ep 10 during the cuddle scene when Phaya asks Tharn to go see the Abbot. Idk but that made me so emotional for some reason. It's love, heartbreak, longing, sadness, happiness of finding love, fear of losing that love all put into one single score. It just touched my heart for some reason.
I'm sorry I didn't mean to write such a long reply but you said what I've been thinking for a really long time...so I couldn't help myself. Also the BGMs for me are really important. For me they are vital in making or breaking a show.
Returned to this comment section after a whole week to gush about the show only to see Babe's character being called "weak, small and girly".
This was really disheartening. For those of you who don't know Babe said in some interviews that since he naturally has a very slim body with a smaller stature, it is very difficult for him to put on weight. So during the months of filming he had to go through a heavy diet just to keep up the weight. Which he was not very happy with. He said that eating so much made him unhappy since he was not used to it. Idk about others but for me calling Tharn weak and small somehow negates the actor's hard work that he put himself through and is disrespectful to the actor.
Each of the actors in this series had to go through intense transformation. Even Gap (P'Yai) had to lose some muscles and get leaner because police officers don't have physique like Gap's natural one. Even the scene in the first episode where they had to dip in ice water, it was real ice. Billy said that they didn't want to be disrespectful towards the real officers who has to go through this training.
I personally don't see how anyone can call Tharn weak. Sure he may be smaller than the other guys. But he went through the same training as the other guys. Hell he even beat the other "stronger" and "bigger" ones to get into the special unit. He is the one who has to save Phaya in every instance. Almost always it's the stereotypical "top" who has to be the savior. But here it's the complete opposite. Tharn is not the damsel in distress waiting to be saved. So how is he weak? Make it make sense.
And as for the "girly" part. Babe has created a character with the perfect blend of masculinity and femininity. Tharn is both rugged and graceful, intense as well as nimble, a character with many dimensions. He is not just a 2-D character. To me the character is so alluring that it just leaves me wanting to see him more. Atp it just feels like some people are just finding flaws out of their a*ses to hate on this show.
I have a theory, I think Tharn will always be submissive to Dr slow Mo, their past lives show Chalotorn was a…
To go against Chalothorn would be treason on Wansarut's part since he's the ruler of the clan. Also people have been saying that Chalothorn is a higher level Naga than Wansarut and since he's the protector of their clan, if any harm comes to him then all the Nagas from their clan are going to be hunted by the Garudas.
As you said the loyalty and submission from his past life chases Tharn even to the present life. This became apparent to me when in ep. 5, Tharn could not shoot Narong who was possessed by Chalothorn. One look from Narong (Chalothorn) and Tharn completely froze. At that time I was a bit frustrated as to why Tharn wouldn't shoot but now it's starting to make sense. Everything in this series is connected to everything.
Whoa, such obeservation skills, but i have a question, how did they fall in love?I would have loved to see more of…
I understand where you're coming from but there is only so much that can be fit in a 12 episode series. Also atleast for me the falling in love part is not that important to the narrative of the story. We have to keep in mind that the past life arc is not the main story, present life of Phaya and Tharn is.
What was required for the narrative is why present day Phaya and Tharn are going through all this. What happened in their past life to make them suffer this much.So these questions have been clearly answered by what we were shown.
For me it was clear that Wansarut being a pure innocent kind soul came back to check on Phaya and then kept on returning back. Also some scenes were briefly shown how the two came close.
But I understand some viewers would want more of the past life story, being as intriguing as it was. Maybe if we got a 2nd season.....
While this is a very cool theory ... how does kissing work, then?
Well obviously the poison gland and the salivary gland are two different organs. The poison gland can be controlled voluntarily. But homegirl got pierced through her body so it is only normal that she spat out poison involuntarily.
According to mythology, it is said that a naga's poison is so powerful that it can even kill Gods. Just a few drops are enough to poison an entire ocean.
There is a story where a Naga king Vasuki let out some poison because he was in great physical pain and even the Gods were in great dilemma where to dispose that poison. In the end Lord Shiva agreed to just store it in his throat (don't ask me how...Hindu gods just got rizz like that). He cannot swallow it since it'd literally kill him. Because of this, the poison turned his entire throat blue.
There you go, a lesson in snake biology and mythology.
Watching this episode, a beautiful little detail that stuck out to me was how Wansarut spat out her blood to the side only after laying down, instead of directly on Garuda as soon as she was stabbed.
As Wansarut being a serpent has poisonous spit, so if the blood from her mouth would have directly touched Garuda, it would have harmed him. This shows how even in death Wansarut’s concern was only her lover. Makes the viewers realize the depth of their love.
Small details like these really shows how this show is a product of love, care and dedication. Makes an already brilliant show all the more mesmerizing.
The way Babe got teary eyed while watching the preview. I don't think I'm ready for the next episode. So we have to suffer for the entire week just for the episodes to come out only to suffer while watching the episode itself?
We all are just trapped in a never ending cycle of suffering at this point.
Can anyone recommend any series with a similar genre? Or like, similarly enthralling? I’m just so obsessed and…
I was about to recommend Word of Honor but then I saw that you've already watched it. You can check out I Am Nobody. It's a Chinese drama. Kind of like a Stephen Chow movie in drama form, where they use Qi in modern world. The story is engaging and similarly fast paced as The Sign.
I am just so FRUSTRATED!!That i have to rant.WHY are tharn's friend gaslighting him at every opportunity he gets…
Except for Yai, I don't remember the other two confronting Tharn about his feelings in any other episode except ep 6. It was only in episode 6 that they directly asked Tharn about his feelings for Phaya. I'm sorry but you saying that they are gaslighting him at every opportunity they get is clearly wrong. As for Yai, the guy knows Tharn the best. So him trying to coax Tharn out of his shell is totally necessary given Tharn's past with his past lover.
And did I tell you how much I'm enjoying these arguments with you? Your comments have actually made me look at some parts of the series a little differently.
