how is it queer baiting when it's based on a BL novel ? queer baiting is when it's "would they or wouldn't they" and the producing crew play with it to attract viewers ? clearly its not "would they ?" because the censor exist and the crew is not playing us because they and also us, know it's adapted from a novel where the main characters are in love so ???
and for the leave a BL alone if you cannot adapt it for what it is, i disagree. I think censored drama are still beautifull and worth watching, i rather have a censored version than nothing at all. With your reasoning, we wouldn't have had The untamed, Sleug of the ming dinasty or others good chinese BL drama. I think people can be in love and show that they are without kissing (all those censored versions still have a lot of proofs of their love, really the only thing they don't do is kiss or f*ck on screen) so the censored version are enough for some of us. And i also view some of those drama as the beggining of their love story where they haven't yet admitted to their love, and I often watch the drama and then read fanfiction or the novel if i want more contact between the characters.
So yeah, i think like the other person said, if that's not your cup of tea, don't watch, but don't say china should never do any drama based on a BL novel because 1) what's the purpose of having 0 drama instead ? and 2) those censored version still show love between 2 people of the same sex (yes even without kissing) and that can help some of the people in china feel representated or some other be more open minded (still remember a popular post of some old man being more open minded after watching the untamed) and 3) the more the censors see that those BL based drama are successfull, the more we can have a chance to see not censored ones in the future ... So yeah i agree the censor is annoying but not doing any drama based on a BL novel is not going to do anything to change the censor and will only do more harm than good....
