story is not static. character needs development.

mother came back happily for the first time to meet her daughter --> saw her daughter being mischievous --> become strict to discipline her, still she doesnt listen --> beat her, still she doesnt submit --> tone down, giving reason, still she is stubborn.

daughter left alone for 15 years, not trusting everyone --> saw her mother being strict, so she compare her mother as the same as her Aunt Ge --> left the city --> being in life and death situation --> saw the people suffering --> Third Aunt comparing her parents sacrifice for the people thus leaving her --> still she challenge her mother at every turn. I would say their relationship development went for worse.

the mother cannot suddenly being soft, pampering her after being harsh for 14 episodes, it would be weird and suspicious. but she's trying to tone down her military style to approach her daughter better. this is the real Asian mom.

if you think she cannot understand her mother, watch again how she reads her mother's mind when they oust Aunt Ge from the new house, perfect sync. but when it comes to their relationship, she's like - she never love me. wth, she actually never try. she expect love equals to pampering her, but someone needs to correct her way of doing things. one day she will bring disaster to the whole family if she doesnt restraint her mischievous. apart from her mother, who else told her that collapsing the bridge to prank a princess is dangerous? no one.

I'm not saying the writing/story is bad. the writer wants to show how deeply rooted her mistrust to everyone else apart from herself. once she open up to her mother in the future, she will understand her better.

true. it's frustrating but I like how the writer gave them both reasons for their behavior and character development throughout the episodes. I'm just frustrated at people who kept blaming the mother without understanding that both characters are written with strong + stubborn personality.

after 16 episodes we only saw mother sadness through her looking at the moon but finally the mother cried! and for those who kept saying why mother didnt have proper communication with her, now you have it - her mother admits her fault that led her to be unruly and rebellious but what did she do? still blaming her mother and misinterpret her words. FL is hopeless. just because shes the FL so we can all ignore her bad behavior? I dont think so. she still thinks shes in the right and everyone else are wrong. as long as she didnt acknowledge this problem she wont change much.

this serie is good. it shows how stupid and illogical those dramas out there were.

as episode 5, ML is becoming very very mani mani unlikeable. even to the level I cant stand him onscreen;
1. seriously he got babyface after come out from jail? plastic surgery really do wonder. he can only be a sidekick at most but writer-nim dare to give him a love line? he lacks Lee Jongsuk aura to have a noona romance. and those childish reactions were super annoying.

2. he's stupid.
Soojae's team of professional hackers only managed to open 1 secret files but he asked his cybercafe friends to crack down the encrypted files?
the reason is even more BS - he wants to know what is inside the USB so he can handle them but now what he can do? it's obviously not simple theft from the start.
he's also only a student but he thinks he can fight superpower in real world which even Soojae barely stand even?

for the sake of plot armor he's succesful in all he did but what a bs ML he's not even needed in this drama.

ML keeps building harem people are starting to argue the best partner for Hee-woo LOL. reminded of the time when I read the manhwa last year.
keep arguing guys, in the original manhwa there are no romance but who knows with this adaptation.
all of them (Hee-ah, Gyu-ri, Han-mi) are good candidates, and each of them will become good ally in their respective role against JoTaeSub.

in the original manhwa, there's no romance at all although ML keeps building harem around him. later on all the people he met will become his ally against Jo except one - who will be a traitor ;)

just watched episode one but the Secretary Kim vibe is too strong, I cant bring myself to watch next episode. Did the story deviate or they follow same route?

no. he is the King of YouZhou (one of the Six States), while first queen is Emperor's sister (which is from Imperial Family). it's like he is the Lesser King while the first queen is from higher royal family.

this drama has one of the best action choreo+CGI in recent years; more physical contact, less 'superpower' effect, reminded me of those classics from the past.

although I noticed few weird dialogue;
1. During Autumn Hunt, why did FengQiWu's man introduced LanXi as one of Four Gentries? I dont think his identity as HeiFengXi is known to other people. Unless Lanxi hold two of the titles (one as the prince, one as HeiFengXi)
2. Why HanPu call BaiFengXi as FengJieJie? Shouldnt it be BaiJieJie?

even with SML, QY didnt truly love him. she's a carefree woman who doesnt think of a man as her love interest but just her tool. her upbringing force that idea into her - surviving is all that matters. it will need some time for her to open up to LY and realize his true feeling.

QM finally learnt the truth about this world the hard way. it's breaking our heart to see her threw away her innocent-ness after being raped in end of E19. I guess that's the only way she can come out from her nest and get her man.

with that level of amnesia after fallen a cliff, I believe the doctor should do a CT brain. there might be bleeding somewhere. if none, they should repeat another CT brain in view of he's becoming more stupid over days. afraid the bleed become worse already.

same history. not same novel.

just a side story. not well developed. if you hope for lovey dovey scene, I would say none.
