Title Back from the Brink Spoiler
Who is this beautiful woman in the ending credits before the scene of Xue Lin dancing ?? ( is it YH’s mom ?…
She’s the head of another sect, the one the snake’s trying to save in the first episodes. I think she was met by a very terrible fate in the novel, but I’m not sure if the drama will pick up on the arc since it doesn’t really affect the main leads (if my memory serves me I think this is part of SY’s backstory)

If you have read the novel, 40 episodes exceeds what is required. I do admit the story now is going super quick, but if they were to take out the whole love triangle Qing Qiu Arc everything else would be fleshed out much better.

The author’s style is very quick-paced to be frank. I’m a huge fan of hers and have been reading her novels since I was in high school, but honestly she excels on character and world building but not in longevity and fleshing her stories out. They always end a little hasty. It’s like she has these super greats ideas but don’t have the patience to bring them to paper fully lol

Pu Fang’s (lay doctor) arc was even more rushed in the novel. I honestly thought they’d just leave it out because it didn’t serve anything, but the way they’d processed her crush’s 3 laments was so much better than what was originally written. The 9 stars I think is just a plot point to repair the FL and ML’s relationship (honestly the whole QQ arc with the love triangle was so out of character and disputed in the Chinese fandom a lot of people just consider it as a side story…apparently you need to make a lot of episodes to make enough money these days, imo the whole story could be told under 30 episodes)

is it true that they fired the original screenwriter and that it’s a different writer around episode 16?
I mean, you never know, but the rumours also said the original screenwriter has written the incantations and therefore there aren’t anymore of those in later episodes but that’s obviously not true at all so…

Title Till the End of the Moon Spoiler
The show ended but there were some things I still dont understand. Can someone enlighten me:1.) It was implied…
No, Ming Ye isn't Tan Tai Jin and Sang Jiu isn't Li Su Su (I'm going to use abbreviations after this because I'm lazy lol). Though it would seem like the show implied they are the same 2 people, what Ji Ze was referring to is how he saw the connection between MY+SJ versus TTJ+LSS. It's kind of like the 4 are linked by fate rather than being reincarnated versions.

To prove this, look at MY and SJ's ending. By the end of Bo're, SJ has lost her Divine Essence, her shell (which she gave to MY to heal his wounds), used her body and flesh to trade for her demon powers, and is condemned by the heavens because of her making AND using the Jade. Essentially, she turned into a hollow shell and that's why despite MY's best efforts she died even just by a tiny touch of lightning. By this point there's absolutely no hope of revival even by Xian Xia's loose-ish standards.

Take a look at MY next. By the end of Bo're, he turned from dragon (龙) to Jiao (蛟), which is a lower graded version of a pre-dragon Yaoguai (or Yokai - a level below demons and deities) which resides primarily in rivers. Essentially, because of what he did, he was banished to the same level of existence as SJ's tribe. There, he created the dream and waited for 10000 years for TTJ and LSS to arrive. After the dream, his powers are diminished and he died.

Not to mention SJ doesn't have another life, there's no way 2 souls can exist at the same time. The only instance I saw that in Xian Xia was in a game and even then it's because those people were reincarnations of the same soul at different times. Or maybe the soul was split in half, but that didn't happen in this story.

The sole purpose of the dream Bo're is to recount the origins of the Demon God and leave hints for TTJ and LSS to follow for their future. The reason why in the dream they look like TTJ and LSS is because they lived through it AS IF they were MY and SJ, therefore in the dream MY and Demon God look the same. This is also why they are affected by the dream and the love and hate they experienced within it. Think of it as a very complicated high-level role-play, in which they live through the lives of people from the past. Another way to explain it would be they were trapped in another person's body and forced to play out a life different from theirs with no way out. None of the things they did were out of free will.

I know this might be confusing, but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I haven't watched the English Dub for the whole drama, but I know it's more than lackluster sometimes. For example, when Mo Nv was in the carriage with Gong Ye Ji Wu, what she thought was "I'm a demon too now, I wonder what you'll think" in reference to him mentioning he was out hunting demons. Instead, this was translated to "I'm evil too now, I wonder what you'll think". Just, XD.

Goobye My Princess would be one. But the author was influential, the rules weren’t so tight, and overseas platforms were willing to buy. They made a longer 55 episode version and sold them overseas where the same restrictions don’t apply. Never again though.

There’s an ongoing conspiracy theory about why YQY’s scenes were cut, which is because he was never given…
I wasn't talking about whether or not what YQY did was right or wrong; I was more on the line of 'nothing happens without reason, no choice goes without a price'. In the cut version of his arc, the reasoning behind him defecting was very superficial, not to say he didn't even feel bad about the people he left behind or what he was going to do about it (it was his responsibility, if he chose to abandon it some kind of remorse is in order, if only for the people he left behind to suffer at the hands of the terrible emperor).

When you read history, it gave you some lines of clarification, and more if you wish to look into it. This did not.

And also, I wasn't the one to try to make up the sad excuse of invaders VS invaded to try to make this seem okay when clearly people have problems with an incomplete storyline. The antis and some extreme fans did. It's kind of ridiculous how far people will go to justify a character's action just because they're on the good side. Everything has multiple facets.

Yes, exactly. You summed it up perfectly. Though from a story standpoint he made the right choice, but if you take out the story and just look at it from a broad perspective, betraying your country is just not a good look, at least without a shred of remorse. At one point the slogan “Saint don’t live past a full lifetime yet the Treacherous lives on for countless” was so widespread the show had to rely on bad publicity dropped by Bai Lu’s paparazzi to quell the fire (poor Bai Lu). And because this slogan was a comparison between XL and YQY, a LOT of XL’s heroic deeds were cut out at the end, making his sacrifice incomplete and up to the viewers’ imagination. The reason why GYJW was also revived by XL’s whole soul and not a single sliver as was written in the novel and script is also an effort to make TTJ and in extension, YQY, looking more innocent. And that’s how poor PYZ’s sacrifice became a vain effort. All in all, not a great move in general, cutting soooo much off of the side characters’ arcs.

Still, some fans are nasty. You can't just say a country being invaded should just surrender because the invaders mean well. Not everything is this story.

Title Till the End of the Moon Spoiler
I am starting to get really worried about the ending. Haven't seen epi 36 yet. Do you guys think they can actually…
There’s an ongoing conspiracy theory about why YQY’s scenes were cut, which is because he was never given the chance to have remorse over his betrayal. In the original script/novel, after he betrayed his home country, his father and brother nearly disowned him and beat him to death. His grandmother never really forgave him and even YBC managed to pain him during their confrontation (before she died) by calling him a coward that seeks refuge and sucks up to whoever is more powerful. He himself has also spent countless drunken nights feeling remorseful for his actions.

I know you might think that his actions aren’t wrong and TTJ is a good person. But if you look at the story from a 3rd person pov that includes everything and everyone (not JUST the protagonists), you’d realized how bad his initial decision was. Yes, he wanted the best for himself and his people, but the action of leaving, if a war were to happen, would only lead to deaths and a country without its protectors. It’s bad. It’s not that his life was threatened, it’s not that XL can fight, it’s his damn responsibility. Honestly I was really looking forward to his inner arc, but the way the show was cut just turns him into a tool that makes TTJ look grand and he himself is fake af. But I digress.

Obviously when people started talking about it the production company did what they did best - try to silence the noise. And then that backfired, and suddenly a LOT of random internet fans/strangers started coming out with statements like, and this is just a broad example, how invaded countries should just give in because the invaders are good people. Come on.

And because this inevitably turned into a shitshow because no one should ever say things like this, the show decided to crop off most of YQY’s latter scenes.

Yes, fans be crazy.

No offense, but why do you hate her so much? I genuinely don’t understand. Though she possesses YBC’s memories,…
I'm glad someone agrees with me! Yeah, prejudice is a terrible thing. Since the show is so lopsided and not in favor of the side characters, I feel like a lot of viewers can't see between the lines of black and white.

Which is unfortunate because the side arcs are very interesting and deep in their own right, even though they take up barely 20% of the showtime (maybe not even). The director and screenwriters obviously poured heart and soul into all characters and I want to respect that. Side characters don't just exist to push the main plot forward.

In TH's case she was possessive, needed to know where MY was almost all the time. MN gave GYJW the ability to leave, had he not come back, she'd have been waiting forever.

And what basis do you have to say she sent the demon? Did she foresee that he will come and planted a Night Demon just so she can be sure he comes? Then why was she even surprised in the first place? He came because there was a demon, not the other way around.

To say because she haven't met LSS and TTJ and hasn't proved she has changed and therefore she hasn't is... No comment. A villain is doomed to stay a villain forever, I guess.

And nobody is forgiving YBC. I'm just saying that I'm holding my judgement because MN hasn't done anything wrong yet. I don't hold a grudge against a character just because she was awful in another lifetime. That, plus I specified MN is a Han Ba (drought demon), so she's obviously not going to just rush into battle alongside the heroes.

But alas, I will grant your wish and let YBC have the most painful death imaginable. In the novel, she was turned into a 人彘 (Human Pig) - this sentence has the executioner hack off the prisoner's 4 limbs, shave off all body hair (eyelashes and eyebrows included) before using a special poison to peel off their follicles forever, drug them into eternal silence, gut out their eyes, cut off their nose and ears, then stuffed into a large pot filled with medicine to prolong their last breaths, and left in the toilet to rot. Furthermore, because she was absolutely terrified of snakes, TTJ had snakes biting her till her death. Satisfied?

If you think so. Yes, because antagonists are only there to spread hate and make people’s lives miserable. They definitely don’t have a thing called ‘emotion’, don’t take past mistakes as experience and don’t have love threads.

You know the whole time I thought the 2-4 scandal was something, but then I realize it doesn’t really matter.

I’m glad you enjoy the drama, please continue to do so. Despite our disagreement, it’s nice to see someone genuinely love the show. ❤️

First of all, she’s not ‘devil goddess’, she’s a demon. Han Ba to be specific (drought demon in Chinese mythology), and Si Yin’s sister. So? There are so many demons around in this show. What makes her different?

Second, do you have proof she is faking it, or is it in you head because you hate YBC? I know YBC is irredeemable, but to assume MN would be exactly the same would be kind of weird, like do you think XL and GYJW are the same person?

Also on a side note, if GYJW didn’t happen to come across MN, him leaving the sect at the behest of his master would be the equivalent to being abandoned. Where would he go?
