Amazing, yet.........

Weak Hero Class 2 was an incredibly easy watch with no dull moments. As an avid fan with season 1 being my most beloved drama, I was incredibly excited to watch season 2 after such a long wait.

One of the things I loved in season one was that even though it was fast-paced, it didn't feel rushed in any way, the director let moments linger and things were left unsaid but were perfectly portrayed through facial expressions and small details for the viewer to pick up on, maybe not on the first watch but on the second, third etc. While I definitely had some small gripes with season 1, I was left satisfied with how things went and understood all of the characters and connected deeply with them.

However, for season 2 I feel like it definitely needed more time, maybe not with a whole 16 episodes, but possibly around the 10/12 mark. I don't know whether it was the directors stylistic choice to have the same amount of episodes as s1 or they felt that the shortness of the show would help its popularity/binge-worthiness? (also the episodes only being around the 35-40 mark is CRIMINAL, they 100% could have made them at least hit an hour) I'm not sure, but I will say that with the limited time frame, they definitely did all they could to show the progression of the 4 student's friendships and overall storyline, however I do think they underestimated how long it takes to really become attached to characters, maybe on a rewatch I will feel differently, but there were some moments earlier on that were meant to be emotional but how is the viewer supposed to resonate with the character if they know next to nothing about them? By the end of the series I for sure cared about them all though, the actors all did an amazing job, but idk, I feel like the directors missed the mark a little unlike with the s1 trio which is unfortunate.

Now onto Sieun, oh our little protagonist how I missed you. Every time I saw him I just wanted to cry for him, once again Park Jihoon did an INCREDIBLE job portraying this character, but honestly that was to be expected haha. You can really see on screen just how much he cares about this show and ensuring that he plays Sieun with so much care and tenderness. I'm so glad that they also included suho into the narrative, like they do in the webtoon, and effectively showed just how much sieun continuously cares for him.

Selfishly I do wish we could have seen more of suho, however I do appreciate that they didn't over-do it and give him some overly dramatic comeback scene, subtlety is the way things go between those two and I'm glad the directors stuck to that. I would LOVE to see the dynamics between suho and sieuns new friends, I feel like they'd either be the best of friends or get on each others nerves haha, probably a mix of both lmao. I was also very surprised to see a Hong Kyung- Beomseok cameo! it was a shock but I was pleasantly surprised, hong kyung is so amazing in his portrayal and it was great to see him reprise the role, even if it was short. I would have LOVED to see a young-yi cameo as well though :( she didn't even get a mention bless her :(

Now, onto the overall storyline, episode 8 ended with na baek-jin's funeral and su-ho waking up, which is how the webtoon ended. This does make me wonder if there will be another season? before s2 released I feel like people were pretty sure that it would at least be left as a cliff-hanger with the potential for season 3, but I'm leaning towards a pretty definite 'no' now. I could be wrong though as there are MANY story lines that could be picked up for a new season that they could tweak like they have with the last 2 seasons. I guess it depends on the response to this season and whether or not the director and actors would be on board. I'm getting wayyyy too ahead of myself but hey, when the show is this amazing it's expected to want to see more. We'll have to see!

Overall, I loved this season and am very happy with how it went, I do have small gripes, however I am able to overlook them because as a whole this season wasn't meant to be a carbon copy of s1, it was meant to have a different vibe and bring something new to the table, which I don't think I fully comprehended before starting as I was so caught up on season 1, which is on me lolll.

(I need a s3 asap 😭😭😭)

More than a lost opportunity

I see so many people saying that they dropped this drama but I can't for the life of me see why? Sure, it's simple, but it's also unbelievably emotional and an easy watch.

I love that the romance isn't the main focus of the drama, but rather the friendship and dynamic between the ml's. A lot of people are disappointed that this isn't a bl, which I get because the two male leads had amazing chemistry, but that doesn't take away from the great dynamic that the ml's have platonically, and I don't think that people should just regard the drama only as a lost opportunity and a let down, thinking of what could have been and what was 'taken away from us', but rather as a story of growth, found family, and finding comfort in those you would least expect.

PARK JIHOON the actor that you are today, he really knows how to portray his characters perfectly. This was my first drama of his that I watched, and it's unbelievable that I can say that he's only gotten better since this (see whc1). He's become an actor that will make me keep up with whatever project he does next.

The main couple, although not very popular as I've long since found out, is cute, and I like their dynamic. AGAIN, I really don't agree with people taking their obsession with the ml's (romantic) relationship and using it to disregard this couple, even though I can see why people may not be thrilled with them, as I think that a lot more could have been done to make the viewers more attached to them and show us more of (particularly the fl's side) what they're thinking and feeling about each other.

Even without the ml's getting together, this drama is still really really great in my opinion and focuses on a LOT more than just that, so all those only talking about this subject and calling the drama a let down simply because of this, we CLEARLY didn't watch the same drama. This drama isn't necessarily revolutionary, but it is special.
