Title The Atypical Family Spoiler
Episode 10 starts to give some plot holes after 9 perfect earlier episodes. How can people not notice that they…
Yup it’s so obvious that it’s staged. Even if she did jump out from the car, there should be some blood on the windshield and on the passenger seat.

Title The Atypical Family Spoiler
I just love Dong Hee weight loss is not like an overnight weight loss like a magic (time skip). We can see her…
I just love how the siblings bickered in the past, but you can see how Dong Hee loves her little brother. I was touched when she said thank you to Gwi Ju when he saved her, then when she cried while working out because of Gwi Ju. Her conversation with the mom touched my heart.

In this drama, Da Hae is supposed to be younger than Gwi Ju, but her appearance and personality seem like she’s older than him. She’s so matured if we compare her with Gwi Ju

The only plothole that I’ve been waiting for the drama to address is how Sol got on top of the horse in 2009. I need the backstory. Was she drunk? if yes, why was she drunk? With whom Sol had drink with? So many questions…ugh 😂😂

Before they changed the director, Sunjae only wore singlet in the Eclipse concert scene. I CANT BRING MYSELF TO…
I’m forever grateful for the new director! I saw some still photos of the old production, it was so ugly! This drama might turn into disaster.

What makes this drama great apart from the storyline and acting, it’s the beautiful production and small details like umbrella color and their outfits foreshadowing what will happen, the beautiful backgrounds and setting.

Maybe it's because this isn't on Netflix. This drama appears to be receiving less attention from worldwide k-drama…
This drama is popular for international viewers that love kdrama as it’s no 1 drama in Viu and Viki in most countries. Viu and Viki are OTT that mostly for dramas lover. Eclipse also has 2.5 million listeners on Spotify and I’m sure that most international fans are using Spotify rather than other music app that is only available in Korea.

https://www.soompi.com/article/1663408wpp/lovely-runner-ranks-no-1-on-viki-for-6-weeks-achieves-highest-viewer-count-of-2024-dramas

I think what this drama is lacking off is a casual kdrama watcher from Netflix because Netflix has bigger audiences. Nevertheless, I’m okay for this drama not being in Netflix because they missed to acknowledge the potential this drama has and it’s good that people are subscribing Viu or Viki instead to watch this drama. It’s giving healthy competition.

Don’t mind me as this will be a long-ass post for me to process my thoughts and let go of the pain from watching this drama. Writing it down, helps.

They all broke me equally and sometimes there’s no such thing as happy ending 😭

Cein - He’s being accused of something he never did and for God’s sake, this boy just lost his mother and people pointed out to you as the culprit? Be fr!! He’s angry and provoked by the principal and Jeha’s stepbrother. I know he felt guilty that he didn’t stop when Jeha asked him to stop and he might felt that he’s the one causing the group to fall apart. He’s lonely and when Hwan reached out to him, he had slight hope but the hope shattered when his final straw is when his dad, among all of people started to doubt him being the culprit of his mother’s death. 💔😭

Hwan - The big brother for the group. He seems okay, but he carried all the burden and pressured being the “perfect” son when he never felt his father’s love. He’s more of a duty, rather than a son for his parents. He’s afraid of becoming a liar and heartless politician like his dad, but at the same time he’s struggling on not becoming one. He’s the most anxious among all of them when on the outer, he seems to be the one with no issues. The conversation between Hwan and Cein towards the end broke me and how Hwan felt responsible for Cein’s death as he couldn’t keep his words to Cein 💔😭

Dogeon - He’s the most calm one but he wished he could be more outspoken on what he wants. The financial burden is just crazy 😭His mother is kinda annoying to me for being selfish and put the bread winner responsible to him alone. I’m just sad to think how many people like him that he’s smart and excel in school but couldn’t finish his high school and enter college because he has to work for money. When he had a meltdown moment with Joo An and screamed “Save me!” to his mother, I can’t…I cried so hard for him. 💔😭

Hosu - He seems the positive one among all, but his “secret” broke me. Like I understand his need to be the centre of attention as he couldn’t get it from his parents. But he’s trying to be a good hyung and great friend to all of them. His “sin confession” to Dogeon broke me 💔😭 When he had issue to adjust his new life at new place, I was crying because he has no one anymore to rely on. No more a “mother” figure to protect him.

Ha Ru - Don’t even get me start with this one 😭 His pain is too much and he had to hide it because of his parents. The fact that he’s afraid to go out from hospital because of his parents…gosh I just can’t put words for his character as it’s too painful.

Joo An - I was mad at him at first because he’s full of anger and hatred, but can’t blame him for behaving that way because of his abusive and alchoholic dad. I think I was like Joo An too, I was hopeful for the dad to come around and change, but he didn’t. 😭 Imagine the guilt to see how scared your mom and sister are towards your dad and you’re the one who bring the misery towards them because of your “hope” to be a family. He had to end it once and for all 💔😭

Je Ha - The pressure from a broken family and living with stepfather and stepbrother. He tried his best for his stepfather to accept him and be a family. He sacrificed his own friend for the sake of his mother’s life. The maknae of the group who is trying to be the glue of the group but he felt like he’s the one who broke the group. When all the hyungs are struggling with adulthood, and he’s scared of what’s going on and no one to reach out. 💔😭

I think some characters overlap with one another on the characteristics and the pain that they feel:

Absence/Lost a Mother - Hwan, Cein, Hosu
Pressure to be a perfect son - Hwan, Je Ha
Suicidal thoughts - Haru, Cein, Jeha
Poverty - Dogeon, Joo An
Lonely - Hosu, Dogeon, Cein, Hwan

They all have abandentment issue and parents issue.

I think it’s sad that Cein knows how the rest react when he dies because of the fake text, but in reality, no one could come to his funeral except Hwan because they’re all caught up with their own issues 😭 Dogeon couldn’t come because of work and he has financial pressure, Jeha and Hosu were in hospital because of their suicide attempts, Haru had been in mental hospital for some time, and Joo An was at police station because of his murder/attempt murder 😭💔

Why is it rated 7.9 when ive seen reviews saying its funny🤔🤔
it has over-the-top comedy style, so not everyone’s cup of tea. Some might find it cringe. To me, the comedy is fine, but I don’t love this drama yet. Just a casual watch so far

I jusy finished watching this drama. Now I’m feeling gloomy although the ending seems “hopeful” but my eyes hurt from all the crying.

I can’t even choose which character is my favorite or who I root the more because I like all them equally and my heart breaks for all of them 😭

I didn’t expect this drama would be so emotionally heavy and dark, but still manage to show the beauty of their friendship.

Title Boyhood Spoiler
I thought it was the fact byeong tae was pretending to be him? was it not
Yeah he was mad that Byeong Tae pretended to be him, but he was just a bully before the accident and he said bloody cigarettes make him excited after he gained his memory, so he’s back being a douchebag. When he lost his memory, he was a good son to his mom, so Idk why he can’t being one after he gained his memory.
