Yes, this is what I was going to write. People who read the novel tend to better understand his character and even be able to root for him. The drama, however, doesn't make this character compelling enough for the majority of the viewers to flock to his side. I'm not sure if it's the writing, the acting, or both, but it's like something is missing (sometimes I wonder if this is intentional). Such a shame, because in an ideal world, it would make so much sense why things end the way they do.

That's exactly how I feel. It's somehow the best drama of 2023 for me in (almost) every aspect, and yet at the same time is the worst thing I have ever watched in all my years on this Earth. Go figure.
