I agree with you 100% and I even wrote a similar comment somewhere below. Also, no one watching a show needs to have read the novel before to understand it. It's just the way this character is brought to life on screen is extremely frustrating and difficult to root for. Perhaps he's more fleshed out in the novel (although I've also read that that's not the case). These very amusing shipping wars stem mostly from this fact, I suppose. Anyway, it's been a fun ride 😆

The thing that scares me the most about this drama is the Game of Thrones effect. Too much expectation, and then the whole thing crashed. I once loved GoT with all my heart, plenty of unforgettable characters, top-notch production, strong character development, etc. I still have the blu-rays but I can't bring myself to watch any of it because the last season derailed the whole thing. Fair enough, they no longer had a book to adapt, but considering the ending was pretty much what George had in mind, it was so anti-climatic that it almost became a parody of what it once was.

Me neither. I didn't know Zhang Wanyi before, but he's astonishing in the role.

I really liked him during the first episodes, then everything (for me) started to fall apart. I don't know what it is. I mean I know. But I'd like to know your opinion after you watch some more :)
