An unconventional political comedy
I watched this today and it was quite new approach of political comedy drama.
The character design is good, but the plot is average. FL is purely strong, extremely strong without any cheat code like time travel or transmigration plot.
Prince Dingnan, due to a shortage of military funds, sends his daughter FL to the capital to offer birthday greetings. FL returns to the capital for a birthday celebration, but her reputation spreads far and wide. It's supposedly about collecting debts, but it's much more than that. This isn't just a pure comedy it's political with comedy facade. FL simultaneously demanding the return of withheld military pay and secretly gathering dirt on ministers, attracting widespread attention.
FL is a classic example of a character with a charmingly contrasting personality. On the surface, she appears carefree and easygoing, but in reality, she is skilled in both literature and martial arts, and her shrewd calculations are astounding. She effortlessly resolves various crises and subdues those with ill intentions. Jin Luying delivers her character well.
I quite not familiar with Liu Zhao Hong so it's my first time seeing his acting. ML is the eldest grandson of the emperor. He appears delicate and frail, but is actually a hidden master. ML falls in love with FL at first sight and constantly leans into her arms – this contrasting charm is so endearing but there aren't many romantic scenes between the ML and FL, although there are quite a few instances of the ML weakly leaning into the FL's arms. The ending indicates open ending between the leads.
If you don't mind almost no romance part you could watch this.
