You are not alone. Despite of all the plot holes and a rather could-have-been-better ending, if you still love this drama to bits from start to end, you're not alone. I'm not saying that you should just ignore and brush off the lacking parts of this drama, but the conflicting feelings we felt while watching this drama: all the happiness, excitement, frustration, anger, sadness... we believed that the journey was worthwhile. If you ever feel remorse because you feel satisfied with the ending or you like the drama despite of the flaws but the popular opinion seems to be a contradiction to yours, then don't be. You are your own self. You like what you like and no one can take away that right from you.
That's why just breathe in, breathe out. Don't further question yourself if there's sth really wrong with your thinking to the point you almost question all your decisions in life. Sometimes, in instances like this, we belong to the "unpopular".
PS. I have nothing against the popular opinion. I'm stating this beforehand because I know some people may tend to misunderstand. c:
The show is a fun mess so far, althought still a mess. There are moments it loses it's pacing and continuity and…
Then I guess I'm also part of the "unpopular opinion" group. I've seen how Oh Yeon Seo acts and I can say she's a good actress. I think it's her character in here. And if we are right, then I must say she really does play the role well (passive, confused, aloof little girl).
This is giving me a Gu Family Book vibe. Like Yoo Weol's (Suzy) fate when she met Kang Chi (Lee Seung Gi) on that hill under the peach tree with the crescent moon. You know, that Yoo Weol will die or sth. I just hope this won't take the GFB path or else it would be too sad and I can't take the same path again.
PS. GFB had an happy ending though. But I would have preferred it to end in another way.
I'm not watching it but I did receive recommendations and read positive reviews and comments before I read your article. Despite of those, I was still skeptical because I'm not really fond of makjang (although I watch them occasionally) yet your article made me change my mind. It was pretty helpful and convincing. So, I decided to give it a try and hopefully would not be disappointed. c:
While You Were Sleeping is indeed very interesting at first, but I can't seem to like it just like how I loved W-Two Worlds (Lee Jung Suk's previous drama). I'm a fan of Lee Jung Suk so I decided to yes well give it a try and hang on a little bit. Watched a few more episodes, but another element bothered me again. THE LACK OF CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HIM AND SUZY. -_- I mean, the romance element here is so meh I can't watch it anymore. Plus, the plot became boring so uhmm, I dropped it. After Episode 18.
The Emperor: Owner of The Mask
I'm, again, a fan of Kim So-Hyun because of her excellent acting skills despite of such very young age. So I decided to watch this drama, and imagine my disappointment. Draggy plot. Pathetic and annoying female lead (I'm mad as to why So-Hyun had to take this character), and many more plot loopholes and unnecessary dragging etc., etc. So I dropped it. I can't take it anymore.
Suspicious Partner
On the contrary, I actually finished this because I love Ji Chang Wook. In addition, this was his last drama before entering the military. The plot was good at the first half (yes, you were indeed right) but then when everything are already out in the open, the drama became, mm mhmm, cold? Stagnant? Idk how to coin it but yeah. But I still finished it anyway. My love for Ji Chang Wook won me over.
Why is Song Joong Ki's character name here is different? It's supposed to be an after story so the writers should keep the original elements. Now this is making me curious. XD
Please justify the webtoon. :3 I'm really okay with the current casting, but if they can't justify the original work then there's no point in watching it. :3
