I agree with you. HS needed someone who doesn't believe easily. He needed someone who could look at him objectively without prejudice or judgement. When young Ji Won asked what he was seeing and even offered an advice for the ghost to go away, HS probably thought that it was the first time someone asked and believed in what he had to say. She is perfect for him, and in hindsight, he could have thought of using her as a way to live a pretentious, but normal life and also, to prove his innocence, when the truth comes out. Young Ji Won made a vow to give him so much love and that surprised young HS. He probably didn't realize how much he needed love and acceptance until Ji Won said it.

Like you mentioned, HS said that they were a match made in heaven. I wonder if he thinks that Ji Won also thinks the same- that they were a match made in heaven. I wonder if this statement is only one-sided. HS gains so much from this relationship but what about Ji Won? Does she have a need, a past or an aspect that is only being met/complemented by HS? His statement of "match made in heaven" is loaded and it implies that it benefits the both of them.

I hope that we are given a background of Ji Won's past. Her character needs to develop. We know already that she is logical and would find the truth before passing judgement. But what else can she do? What else is in her head?

He may have already recognized DHS but because he's a psycho, he's playing along with the situation. I agree that he's being given a lot of screen time and he's not even out in the field with the rest of the team. The only time he went out was when he informed the Baeks about the kidnapping. That scene itself had a lot of focus on his subtle reactions. He's giving out a certain "vibe." LOL.

4th time! Oh man, you are so addicted to this drama. I have not seen a drama more than twice. Even with Reply 1988, I only rewatched the scenes that I loved. Please do share if you notice any more "clues" from watching it again. Can't wait for next week!

I think initially, it was only a crush to Ji Won. Ji Won likes challenges and mysteries (part of the reason why she became a detective). To her, HeeSong was a mystery to solve and a challenge to overcome. She didn't know anything about him (and she was surprised to see him in her store because she'd never seen him before) and yet she was drawn to him. It was a challenge for her to get his attention. This is human nature - we go after the things we know we can't have. When she saw him outside the store to protect her, she saw another side of him. I honestly think that this was a turning point for her because it finally showed her a side that was real. She was genuinely curious about him (he's put up a facade all along), and she asked questions about what he sees even though it sounded scary. Ji Won's character has been consistent all this time, curious, determined, open-minded and accepting.

I think it is Choi Dae Hoon/Lee Woo Chul - the detective with eyeglasses. Whenever the camera focuses on him, it has an eerie effect. His subtle reactions are being shown, but it's only for a second and the camera focus moves to something else. I am sure it is intentional. He also has black hair and stocky too. :)

Thank you for your lengthy but detailed explanation as to how VIKI/subbing industry works. So much hate for VIKI lol. You can rant all you want about how you think VIKI has been cheating or taking advantage or short-changing their viewers. You have a choice which avenue you like to use for watching. I am not a volunteer and I don't work for VIKI but I support them nevertheless. To each his own. :)

I called it before. He was showing symptoms of schizoid personality disorder, not ASPD. I wonder how the real BHS got into a coma. And who was the "woman" he was talking about over the phone before hitting DHS? Could it be HaeSu? MORE QUESTIONS. Argh.

I feel really sad for Ji Won for having to bear the secret of who DHS is and she can't share it with anyone. :(

Exactly my concern right now. Even as a viewer, it is difficult to believe that they will have a happy ending. The drama should be able to convince us that the struggles were overcome completely, emotionally and mentally, before the couple can be truly happy. I hope the ending will not be rushed because there are too many conflicts in the story that need to be resolved. Pacing is important.

I think one or two supporting characters will die (like maybe the reporter or one of the police team members) but I think the couple will survive. Fingers crossed.

WHAT IF and this is a big WHAT IF.. What if real HeeSung knew Hae Su from younger years and they did some bad things together? We need to know what happened to Hae Su after the killings. One thing's for sure though. The parents were really desperate to replace real HeeSung for some reason!

I never thought of your theories! You could be right! I think, HyunSoo blackmailed the parents for his accident so the parents had to take him and could have funded Hae Su's education as part of the agreement. It was briefly mentioned on Ep 5 how the parents didn't know he was the son of a murderer and that HyunSoo knew "their weakness." I wonder whether real HeeSung's coma situation came before the car accident because right now, I can't think of any reason why the parents would have agreed to have HyunSoo pretend to be their son. They could have just paid him or have him treated at the hospital after the accident and there's no need to do all that "act." So I assume that the parents were desperate to have a replacement for the real HeeSung. SO WHY should there be a fake HeeSung? More questions.

EP 5 is FoE's most intense episode yet. I knew that HyunSoo didn't want Ji Won in his life because he didn't think he deserved love or happiness, or her. He feels a lot of guilt already and now, he feels that way even more because he thinks that in the end, he will cause her pain no matter what. He knows that he won't be able to prevent Ji Won from being hurt upon knowing his past whether or not he was evil or not. My heart is broken for HyunSoo because it is a constant battle for redemption for him but he can only do so much with the truth being hidden. I do have a couple of burning questions:

1. If it was the sister (as implied by the goldfish keychain) who killed alone or together with her father, I wonder what kind of evidence will be unravelled to prove her guilt and Hyunsoo's innocence? It would be too predictable if it's only a confession by her.

2. If it is finally discovered that fake HeeSung is HyunSoo, I wonder how the drama will explain of the real HeeSung's identity to everyone? Will the real HeeSung wake up and claim his identity? I wish the drama would be able to wrap it with fake HeeSung being called and accepted as HyunSoo.

I am sure there will be more questions as the episodes roll in. Be still, my FoE heart. :)

Viki is obtaining licenses to have these dramas/movies shown legally. The subbers are volunteers so they obviously can only make them WHEN and IF available. If it is a job that they do, sure, they will have deadlines and the subs would have been there sooner. If the other websites are showing them with complete Eng subs, go ahead since no one is stopping you from watching through these websites. Just don't discredit companies and other people who work hard, no matter the industry is.

The subbers for Viki are a group of volunteers. I am not sure if they are being paid. We need to be a little patient with them. Just watch it at Kissasian if you can't wait.

Still waiting for Eng subs to be completed in Viki. It is only at 57% right now. My FoE heart can't wait!!

I have seen reviews of it. I am not sure if it's my cup of tea because it has very little romance in it or none at all(I read in some reviews although I am not sure if it is true). I am currently watching Eulala Waikiki S2 (haven't watched S1) for my laughter medicine. Chief Kim will be next on my list when I need some laughs. Thank you for your recommendation. :)

@lovecolin Yes! #TeamTaek all the way. His character is realistic. Tsundere guys? Who'd actually fall for someone who calls you ugly and bullies you all the time? Realistically speaking, women fall for guys who are nice and sweet to them.

I am sure that Do Hyun Soo is a layered individual. With only 4 episodes in, we barely scratched the surface of Hyun Soo's inner mind. I sure hope that the drama goes deeper beyond trauma because the drama is character-driven. If it only focuses on the trauma and not the underlying feelings and implications that go with it, it would fall short of being a "psychological" drama and just be a thriller.

We are in dramaland so anything can happen. Romanticization of psychological issues such as ASPD is almost expected. Let me know your thoughts when you finish IOTNBO. I probably would only watch it after FoE. I have a feeling that it would be difficult for me to move on from FoE just like it did me with Reply 1988 so I'd need a new drama that would be totally captivating like IOTNBO. :D

I am a rom-com fanatic and I needed a drama to get over Reply 1988. Good thing, this thriller drama came along! So good!

I am into psychology but for some reason, I am not fond of psych dramas like Psychopath diary or even Kill Me, Heal Me. My last attempt at watching a psych drama was It's Okay, That's Love and I didn't even finish it. I am a psychology graduate from many years back (didn't practice though) and I feel that the psychological issues presented in dramas are one-dimensional, limited, or inaccurate. It should not be so simple, but dramas depict otherwise, so it leaves an unsatisfactory taste in my mouth. Nothing against psych dramas though. I love forensic psychology, that's why I loved Criminal Minds (US version) and FoE is close because the story itself is driven by human behavior and shows how one's past motivated the behavior itself.


I don't think he has ASPD. The closest disorder would have been Schizoid Personality Disorder - Schizoid personality disorder is an uncommon condition in which people avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with others. They also have a limited range of emotional expression. However, like many psychological disorders, there is a certain number of symptoms/signs that should be met before getting diagnosed with it and he does not check the entire list.

He definitely is a traumatized individual who needs counseling and healing.

On the contrary, I think on the first date he attributed seeing his father with meeting her in general, since he'd also seen his dad when she confessed. ---> I think this is the reason why I think he feels guilty of something. Him being with Ji Won triggers hallucinations of his father so to me, it either is a strong feeling of guilt because he has found a way to redeem himself (by welcoming happy, positive thoughts) and felt that he doesn't deserve it OR he feels guilty for bringing someone to his miserable life and would like to avoid that altogether.

We all would end up psychologists after analyzing HyunSoo. :D

On a side note: I probably would watch It's Okay to Not be Okay because it qualifies as a psych drama and seemed realistic enough based on the reviews. Also watching it for (ahem!) Kim Soo Hyun :D

It probably would be an open ended drama like CitT. We all hate that but at the rate the webtoon is releasing episodes (one per week), even if 52 episodes (one whole year) are released, that won't still be enough to establish a break-up between SeoJun and Jugyeong and re-ignite Suho and Jugyeong OTP. Unless, the author already decided Seojun and Jugyeong are endgame, then there's not much story to go around anymore since the webtoon currently has Seojun-Jugyeong pairing currently.

They are probably beyond the script reading already because there were pictures two or three weeks ago of them shooting. See link below.
