No it's not a remake. Personally, I think you can start with whichever, the stories are not exactly a continuum. I wouldn't start with Mu Ye Gui Shi though... I think you can watch it chronologically, so Weasel Grave, then this one, then the movie and finally Mu Ye Gui Shi. There's also "Chronicles of a Ghostly Tribe" but I don't remember if it goes before or after "The Ghouls" movie...

Ending don't make any sense even with understanding it in mandarin ... when you people can understand it…
There are many points in this series that don't make sense, but I agree that the ending of episode 9 is just confusing... Try to watch the "second ending" which is episode 8 of the DVD version, it's slightly better.
