I disagree. Ofc Sa Eon had a hard up bringing but the WHOLE show was about his development and learning to over come that. In ep 11 especially, you see how he is so regretful of how he lived before and not communicating with hee joo and wasting their time. By inflicting this self punishment idea, it negates all the character development the previous episodes built up to. And what happens in the novel isn't relevant, when your adapting a piece of media you're supposed to do it in a way that makes sense to people who haven't seen the original. And in my opinion they didn't do a good job of that

If were talking about the P*lestine scene (i'm not sure what will be censored), then yes there was no reason to include it. You can take that scene out completely and it would've made no difference to the plot and episode.
