[ SPOILER!!! ][SERIOUS !!!][DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED THE STORY]....Toward the end of the story,…
Youre right. I always saw JC as very possessive. Its a toxic kind of wanting WWX to be what he wants him to be, and not letting him be freely who he truly is. Its the complete opposite of what LWJ thinka and feels with WWX. You can say the true foils are LWJ and JC in this case.

But i disagree with with the last point. JC is easy to read, always wears his emotions on his sleeves. Everything he has done, and every emotion pointed out about JC has been consistent. WWX understands JC like an open book because he grew up with him, and WWX is told as a highly empathetic character. The only person he truly had trouble reading was LWJ because of his ice cold outer appearance, but once WWX learned to read the fiery emotions within LWJ, it was so simple (as you can see in the end. Again, this bring it back to how LWJ and JC foils.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
[ SPOILER!!! ][SERIOUS !!!][DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED THE STORY]....Toward the end of the story,…
JC was caught and lost his core before any animosity got too extreme. Afterwards, JC was able to throw out WWX because he couldnt risk anymore for him. JC was literally at his limit of what he could sacrifice for JC then. WWX didnt hide it just bc JC would feel humiliated, its because WWX fulfilled his promise to madam yu, and JC would be really annoying once he found out. Why else do you think he kept rubbing his head in annoyance as JC kept verbally assaulting WWX? The point was JC started placing WWX's worth after he felt he lost too much (his core) and couldnt afford anything extreme again, WWX wasnt worth it. Chenqing was literally a war spoil from the first siege which he himself led... It would only make sense JC has it as JGY held onto Suibian. Youre telling me JGY also has sentiment with WWX? We even see JGY talking to XY about how much of a mad dog JC is post first siege. What was JCs achievement after WWX's death? He ended up with an bad reputation title such as Sandu Shengshou? Keeping the flute wasnt with good intention. The way he obtained it and what he did after really tells how he feels, dont add headcanons to this when it contradicts.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
This is in reply to @Tkcjt in the relationship between JiangCheng and WeiWuxian "How does Jiang Cheng feel about…
Well if you have read the novel, you can see that it was always hinted in the past that JC always has a prickling feeling if inferiority and envy towards WWX. When situations become extreme, he is no longer able to ignore these negative feelings and their difference in views rifts them apart. In order for a bond to work, you need to be open to understanding the other, and JC never gave that to WWX. WWX followed his way of what is righteous and lived his life to the best he could without losing himself (his views and values). JC was close-minded and only thought about protecting what he wants to protect. When WWX decides to protect the Wens, this was because it was right to return favor. JC on the other hand could only think about his own reputation, kissing up to the Jins to maintain a good standing as the cultivation world is trying to re-balance itself, and would rather save face than do what is right. JC is self-centered, and she really displayed this throughout the story. The major rift between them being unable to be on good terms is their different core values.

"Shuang--" titles are usually for two prominent figures that stand as equals. If JC couldnt even try to understand WWX and both have different values that are just poles apart, how could they ever imagine to achieve the title "shuangjie" like how Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji are known as shuangbi? Even Jin Guangyao said it was simple to plot JC against his own shixiong.

Sometimes those you know the best and grow up with aren't going to be the most compatible and may be the one to hold you back from who you really are.
