After the movie, my reaction was how come the plesiosaur scene is more realistic than the driving scene. I got your point tho... it is a dream but still that scene should be a bit realistic.

Haven't seen the hollywood version but as this film has strong ties with the japanese society, surely the japanese version is way a lot better. Give this movie a try... might be old but it's gold! It is more than dancing and that's what makes it beautiful.
