That's his/her take — half of or even most dramas aren't very realistic. That's true. However IMO, aren't shows we watch supposed to be entertaining? If shows were completely realistic they'll be a lot less entertaining and chances are people won't watch them. "Take it with a grain (or maybe a pinch) of salt" people will say. We watch TV shows and films for entertainment and creators/producers serve us just that. We romanticize real life situations and write them into sugarcoated storylines so people will feel good watching them. For me, they're either unintended mistakes if not unavoidable consequences in mainstream media especially when writers are (possibly) running out of ideas for entertaining shows OR they didn't consult professionals on the subject and elements they're including in their shows. Maybe there's a way that they're still entertaining and at the same time realistic but then again, they're probably unavoidable consequences or unintended mistakes. I usually watch indies instead for more realistic depictions of life and people or even better documentaries. When I watch mainstream shows, I choose what details I take and try to ignore the rest so I can have a good time watching them. It's all subjective.
