Hope to see more from Zhang Miao Yi too. Her role hasn’t been that substantial here but she’s looking stunning…
I expect a lot of her scenes ended up on the cutting room floor since all of Marcus Li's scenes had to be cut or reshot with Li Qing or AI face swapped (hence the short episodes). Feel sorry for her some clown has a melt down and she's the collateral damage!
Most pointless yt channel in the world, at one point watched the stuff she panned because if she didn't like it meant it was worth watching! That is until I setup youtube to never have it recommend her videos and haven't had to endure her BS ever again! After all how much can you milk the 'I once worked on the 2010 Dream of Red Chamber production' schtick just another money grabbing youtuber that throws shade to get clicks.
So, it seems like a lot of people didn’t like how the story had no progress or how it turned out. Am I the only…
By a lot its the usual vocal minority, some how people forget that the folks in this forum aren't the audience that the dramas are produced for and that the producers won't know and don't care what the people here think, however, loud and annoying they want to express their views! For me this one ranks just below 'You are my glory' in my all time favs of this genre, the pacing is pretty accurate to real life where real people have jobs etc but I suppose for the masses reared on US TV where the whole plot wraps in 1 or 2 45 minute episodes the whole idea of a story arc would be alien. The setup is also pretty realistic after all if I value a decade plus friendship, I'd be pretty circumspect about rushing things!
YG: My period is late.Me: 😳😳😳😆😆😆So the drama just slapped me in the face, telling me they won’t…
Cultural differences and Social Norms! In US Network TV people die but you won't see blood, whereas in Chinese Network TV people have kids but you won't see anything bordering on real intimacy! Don't think Maimai's agent would have let her near anything risqué, not withstanding what Mama and Papa Zhao might have to say on the matter.
This is a drama that would have benefited greatly if there were multiple romantic pairings rather than focusing…
To each their own, 3 of the author's works has been turned into dramas recently (not by the same team) the other 2 'Road Home' and 'Love me Love my voice' also had the same polarised opinions regarding pacing and whether they're any good. What I will say is all 3 have good FLs who can act which make them very watchable. If its not your cup of tea the director and screenwriters don't hide what's on offer you'll know after the first few episodes.
There's a lot of little details scattered through the couple's relationship and the history of the 3 male protagonists IMHO swamping it with extra couple side stories adds nothing to the premise. This is basically a prodigal son/Romeo Juliet mashup i.e. redemption/star crossed lovers, how much does anyone care about Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet? It wouldn't take a lot of work to turn it into a 'classic' Chinese dramaland idol romcom but what would be the point? Those are 2 a penny!
Feels like it's time to rewatch Love Like the Galaxy
My wife is currently watching LLTG as I am watching this, she prefers costume dramas but I've already watched LLTG when she went away for a girl's holiday! So its a bit anti-social wall to wall Wu Lei in our house!
What would prompt an actor to do this? is it to be cast in a larger range of roles bc movies are shorter? or do…
Generally you have to be able to act to star in a movie as opposed to just stand around looking pretty, which you can get away with in idol dramas, I suppose as part of the transition from child actor our boy feels the need! As he's got his own studio/agency he's not constrained by the bean counters to churn out mediocre but commercially successful dramas and can do the projects he wants to do
Lss look like yangmi in this cast, i dont know why casting want to choose Lyn as ml, even to many are better i…
Yu Shi San is the 'pretty boy' character in this drama so why would anyone cast an even prettier boy to be the NYZ character? The 2 lead characters are meant to be around 30 (middle aged in ancient China) so you're not going to be casting a 20 something who's pretty but can barely act then cover them in layers of makeup so they look age appropriate!
This is an S+ production so there's money in the pot but there's a huge cast and Liu ShiShi's fee won't be peanuts (its not like she needs the work, I am actually surprised at the amount of promo work she's doing for the show). Given the plot setup e.g. Ren Ru Yi has a line 'I don't like Brats' in Eps 17 you aren't going to be pairing Leo Wu with shishi, it was a stretch watching him with Dilreba in the Long Ballad ? So who are all these 'even better' candidates? Ren Jia Lun? Zhang Ruo Yun? Would they actually make a better NYZ?
