One problem, I don't think that the last scene was in Tianquan, it was Xuanji. From episode 57, you can see that…
Tianquan was just my guess, because the Tianquan Palace is situated on top of a mountain and overlooks the city (see Ep 31, when Fuyao first steps into Tianquan). And if Fuyao and Wuji are already married, they will more likely reside in his kingdom rather than hers. Anyway, it's just my guess and not important. What's more important is that they are alive and well.
It's such a pity the scriptwriter confused everyone with such an ending because people have been lowering their scores for the drama on other sites because of this.
I thought Yao City arc was epic and well acted. They should have shortened the Taiyuan arc. All the harem fighting…
Taiyuan arc, while enjoyable to watch, just took up too many episodes (for me at least). I would have preferred the scriptwriters spend more time on moving the story along and writing a better script for the other arcs.
Up to this point, only in Xuanyuan Mt and Yao City arcs did brave and gutsy novel Fuyao come to life. In the rest of the drama, all the awesome things Fuyao did the scriptwriter gave to Wuji. Besides Fuyao, all the other characters, like ZBY, YLZ, YH were also valiant characters in their own right, but again the scriptwriter butchered all of them in favour of Wuji. That is why you see such a competent Wuji and this drama has become Legend of Wuji. Like some other viewers here, I signed up to watch Legend of Fuyao, not Legend of Wuji (and I'm not even comparing drama to novel here as I understand the need to change the story to fit 66 episodes). But up to this point, I feel immensely cheated.
Regarding Yao City, I have the advantage of having read the novel and so I understand what was going on in Fuyao's head as the events in Yao City unfolded. I can only say the drama did not do a good job of explaining Fuyao's actions and so this resulted in some viewers thinking she was weak and pathetic here.
Here are some explanations: (1) Fuyao defended Yao City not because Wuji asked her to, but because she spent time there and grew to love the villagers and enjoyed the love and warmth they showed her, which she did not receive in Xuanyuan Mt. So, this made their betrayal all the more painful and poignant when they did not open the gate for her. (2) She did not tell the villagers her plans to fake surrender because she knew there were spies in the city and she had to make it look real, otherwise she won't even get past the bandits' gate. So, she would rather endure their scoldings and abuse when she walked out of Yao City than give away her fake surrender plans. Only Tie Cheng figured out her real intentions (3) She cried out for the villagers to open the door not to save herself, but to save the 4 men in black who gave up their lives to protect her. (4) After all the 4 men died, she knew there was no more hope for survival and did not want to give the bandits the satisfaction of killing her. So, she decided to commit suicide.
I hope the above helps you understand Fuyao and the events at Yao City better. But if it does not, it is fine also as we all have our own views.
Xuanji arc starts on Episode 53. This means Xuanji + Qiongchang will be a little cramped for the last 16 episodes.…
I thought Yao City arc was epic and well acted. They should have shortened the Taiyuan arc. All the harem fighting and political scheming just went on and on for too long and didn't advance the story one bit.
Same thoughts here. ZBY liking ZZ out of gratitude doesn't ring romance and passion at all. ZY/QY pairing is weak,…
The scriptwriter not only ruined Fuyao's character, but also Zhanbeiye, Zhuzhu and Yun Heng by making them weak, clingy or indecisive. Ony Wuji's character was made stronger and given all the credit for the awesome things Fuyao and Zhanbeiye did in the book. Now it makes me wish Wuji will disappear as I'm fed-up with him being given all the credit (of course, he can appear again for OTP moments with Fuyao).
They need to go and settle the throne in each country. So be patient. You don't get to Fuyao's lotus/ 5-color…
Agree. I've seen comments in other forums complaining about Fuyao's character in the drama. This is just so unfair to Fuyao! :(
I don't think the SARFT regulations have to do with the drama change. I watched Legend of Zhen Huan (the Sun Li drama) and in that drama, Zhen Huan plotted and ruthlessly got rid of all her enemies. That's why I am so surprised Fuyao's character was ruined like that. Both the chief producer and scriptwriter for Fuyao drama are women. In one of the videos that featured the producer, she said she wanted to showcase Fuyao's independence and perseverance to achieve her goals. The scriptwriter also said in an interview she likes the book very much. So, I really don't understand why they butchered Fuyao's character like that. They are women, but they have done a real disservice to all women who want a strong female lead as a role model.
It's ridiculous how they get rid off of Fuyao's love interests and plots to give it to others...Like they are…
The scriptwrite wasted too much time on Taiyuan arc/Wuji and unnecessary side stories, like Zongyue/Qizhen/Qiyun (Qizhen should have just been killed off in Taiyuan. Why let him come back again to waste time) and Zhuzhu/Zhanbeiye's teacher silly scenes in Ep 52. If they didn't waste so much time on these, then maybe they would have had time to write a better script for Tiansha (it's a pity because I like Fuyao's friendship with Zhanbeiye). I now only hope the Xuanji arc will be well written, with all screentime devoted to Fuyao and without Wuji helping her. This is Fuyao's drama and Fuyao's kingdom. She deserves a good story!

Agree. I am also a book fan and I love Fuyao's character in the book. I can now understand why Chinese netizens, especially the book fans, are complaining. I don't mind that they change the story so that it can fit into 66 episodes. However, they should not change by too much the character of the main person in the book. In Fuyao's case, it is a BIG change and made worse. So fristrating. If not for Fuyao character change, I would truly enjoy this drama because the acting, OTP chemistry, music, costumes and everything else is very good .
I don't know but My lotus bit is what I care the most this week. The rest doesn't matter LOLhttps://78.media.tumblr.com/1126edea900807605c4303e33d0acd21/tumblr_pceyntTlRb1vj9tigo3_r1_540.gifhttps://78.media.tumblr.com/82fb8a878261fe75adbe140d8b7304b2/tumblr_pceyntTlRb1vj9tigo6_r1_540.gifI…
Yes, yes! I love this lotus flower scene too. Yang Mi is really beautiful here and her eyes had this innocent, childlike curiosity about the world around her, just like a baby that was just born. So well done!

@Vivian - I SO AGREE with you regarding how the scriptwriter has destroyed Fuyao's character in the drama. In the book, Fuyao was the one who plotted and schemed and helped all the male leads wrestle back their thrones in each Kingdom. She was smart, independent, ruthless and so darn badass!! All this has now been changed to Wuji being the one who planned everything or one of the other male leads helping her. I really do not understand why the scriptwriter did this change. Since they are following the book for these parts, why can't they just retain Fuyao as the plotter, instead of giving the credit to Wuji? It is just SOOO irritating and frustrating! After the Taiyuan arc, I was still hoping to see smart and badass Fuyao in the later episodes. But now after watching the Tiansha arc, I have given up hope on the scriptwriter. I am expecting credit for Fuyao becoming queen of Xuanji will go to Wuji again in the coming episodes :( :( URGH!!! I can only re-watch my fav Fuyao scenes to soothe my frustration - her fight with Senior Yan and Ping Rong and Yao City battle. At least in these scenes, heroic and brave book Fuyao comes to life!
Is very simple reason as the bandit have been attacking Yao and other city . Is not Fuyao and the army should…
The villagers already thought Fuyao betrayed them. So, it doesn't matter what she shows them at the gate as they wouldn't believe her anyway. If they believed her, they would have just opened the gate ...
As to why they didn't shoot arrows at the bandits, any good military strategist will know - if I see 2 groups fighting in front of me and I don't know who is my friend or my enemy, I'll just wait and let both groups fight it out. After they have weakened themselves fighting among themselves, then I shoot my arrows. Why waste my arrows right at the start?
I completely disagree. I think ep 39/40 did not discredit Fuyao's character. Rather, it showed her bravery and…
In the novel, the handkerchief woman (Hu Sang ) got what she deserved - Zhan Beiye made her suffer for it :) Unfortunately, they didn't show it in the drama.
@Jeanette - Yes! Agree with you about the reason why Fuyao decided to commit suicide
It's amazing how different viewers can interpret the same scene so differently. If you watch the scene outside the gate in ep 39/40 again clearly, Fuyao initially did not shout for the gate to be opened, but instead, fought head-on with the bandits. But everytime one of the soldiers helping her (the ones in black) died, she was devastated. She did not know who they were, but they still gave-up their lives to help her. After a few of them died, she realised that because they were so outnumbered, the only way she could save them was if the villagers opened the gate. So, that's when she went forward (ep 40) and cried out to the villagers to open the gate because she wanted to save the lives of the men helping her. If you watch ep 40 again carefully, at the start of ep 40, she stopped asking for the gate to be opened. She even asked one of the soldiers to try to run as the bandits only wanted her dead. After all the soldiers died, she did not have anyone to save anymore and so, that was when she cooly decided to commit suicide. This for me is not a pathetic "weakened damsel in utter distress" but rather a truly strong, heroic and brave female lead.
Fully agreed the scene outside the gate really discredit Fuyao character. Maybe it show end of the day fuyao just…
I completely disagree. I think ep 39/40 did not discredit Fuyao's character. Rather, it showed her bravery and strength of character. Why would the people guarding the gate want to help Fuyao when they think she has betrayed them? So, they would rather just stand by and do nothing and watch Fuyao get killed by the bandits. Fuyao was totally outnumbered, but she still fought on and did not give up. She was fighting not just for her life, but for the lives of the few men (the ones dressed in black) who helped her. This is what a strong female should be doing and it made total sense to me.
