Yeah. I was also wondering why would a guy who is homophobic want to direct a bl?! Like people can say it is for money but he should still be able to bring out gay sensibilities which isn't really possible if he is absolutely homophobic and doesnt get the nuances of it. SO I kinda feel its a overreaction. Or may be he did indeed use BL as a way to stardom and decided to dump is when he got famous and the best way to do was to use the whole bl-partner excuse. But that just makes him opportunist....not homophobic lol. Just saying.
I mostly agree. Teh isn't evil or unforgivable or ruined for me, as some people feel. But Aew was right to leave…
I absolutely agree with everything you have said except one thing. I dont think there is a problem with Oh leaving Teh for being attracted to someone else. But I am majorly bothered about the self-righteousness behind it all. Here is a guy who literally put up with everything you Brought to the relationship, who fought for you no matter what. And then he goes and kisses someone (contributed big time by your indifference to his life. The distance was because Oh started losing interest in Teh's life of an acting student!) and somehow its black and white and he needs to leave! Ahem...like what about sitting together and talking, understanding what happened, helping your partner realise he is being taken for granted by this idiot director, making him see sense...like he made you see sense for half your life and put up with everything from you changing careers to you surrounding yourself with four people whose life you seemed to be more interested in than your own boyfriend's?! Lol! So yes, Oh has the right to leave but let's not pontificate on it like its the act of a mature man taking strong decisions. It is not! It is the act of an immature boy taking a selfish decision. If this were happening in real life, we would see it differently. If this were happening to us, we would want our lovers to exercise a little empathy and sit and talk to us and fight like hell for us and not just throw us out!
I kept reading people here talk about Teh and how horrible he is. It seems like all BL fans like their actors to be totally virginal and only perfect. Hence the reaction to Teh veering off the relationship. One look at the play Teh put up is clear what happened from his point of view as well. And yet fans here were like how dare he do that and hurt Oh further?! I am missing something here because what I saw was totally different!! The play expressed the problem from both sides. They had no common interests and stop being interested in each other! BOTH OF THEM!Oh himself tells his friends he doesnt like going to plays with Teh because they are boring!! ITSAY was filled with Oh making decisions based on his whims while Teh was the grounded one with a plan. Oh simply decided he wanted to be an actor. Teh got used to it and also helped him, even to the extant of sacrificing his own seat for Oh. And yet Teh is the bad guy. And in IPYTM, Teh takes Oh along to every play and OH is the one who is bored and doesnt want to go. And yet Teh is the bad guy! And Oh shifts majors without a single warning or even discussing it with Teh, who gave up his seat and his college for something that was temporary...and yet Teh is the bad guy! And in the midst of all this dysfunction, another man manipulates Teh into thinking he is into him and Teh only slightly falls...he gets attracted to him and share a kiss. And thru the whole thing, Teh is not dumping Oh but is caught between his love which doesnt seem to be interested in him anymore and a new man who seems fully into him. But with this somehow Teh has been certified the bad guy...and called a CHEATER! A cheater? Really? Because a 20something boy struggles between two people, he is now a cheater who should NEVER be forgiven and Oh should move on and not be toxic?! Which world are you guys living in?! Both of these guys are flawed individuals....one is insecure and goes as per his own whims and fancies no matter who gets hurt by it..and another is a confused individual who doesnt know how to set boundaries with anyone! And yet the second one is the villain because of ONE KISS! While the first one is okay...never mind that every dysfunction in the relationship from the beginning was contributed to majorly by his immaturity and only reactively by the second one! Teh repented and apologised for everything from sacrificing his own seat (!!!) to kissing another man.....Oh never did! And yet he is the good one and Teh is the bad guy! Always and forever! If BL fans were ever judges in courts, the devil would be king by now!!
You don't understand anything you watched here. I'm surprised you got to the end. MODC is just your plain vanilla…
You literally called me simplistic, and that I didn't understand anything I watched in that series and that you were surprised I even got to the end. And yet me saying you're spouting BS somehow hurt your feelings and you want me to be courteous. Lol! My comment was purely based on yours. We could have had a proper discussion about the series if you hadn't gone off the way you did. Anyway, I am sorry about that. I will overlook your initial comment and hope you overlook mine and lets just talk bout the series.
Now with regards to vanilla....well, this series was vanilla for the couple that I mentioned were absolutely cringe! And I clearly made a distinction from the beginning about it. As I mentioned in my first comment I have nothing to say about the brothers...relationships have nuances...I get it...but I had an awful time reconciling to the mother doing and allowing what she did. That was just weird. And that was the point I was making. Two relationships. One was totally out of place owing to the way it was constructed...and another was absolutely cringe owing to how full of tropes and nonsense it was filled with. I dont like guys, I like only you?! Like seriously...we are doing that seven years into the explosion of the BL industry?! Come on! Let's be honest!

Lol! No one said MODC was a work of art!! It is a vanilla BL. But when you have a vanilla BL like MODC, and then the next chapter in the History Series is another vanilla...the first vanilla counts for just vanilla...the second vanilla counts for stale vanilla! I am not being simplistic...this series wasn't high on philosophy if that's what you were looking for. It is a cringe-worthy series with lots and lots of BL tropes and a complex relationship made extremely weird by the utter lack of chemistry between the actors portraying them. MODC was vanilla but at least it was interesting and nuanced enough to watch, barring the final episode. But this CTY is downright dumb in its intent and scope. SO yeah, you can continue pontificating on what is nothing more than a useless BL series, but please spare me your bs! Thank you!
Just came here to say that I might be using the "all gloss and no lips" from now on...
Lol yes you can! It came to me when I was writing this..but who knows...one day it could grow and become a phrase to use. Lol! My contribution to the BL universe. wink wink.
Okay so I watched it. The two actors playing the brothers were individually great but together, their chemistry was just awkward! Absolutely cringe-worthy. And this while being pitted against another couple that was the definition of cringe and BL tropes! But thru all of this, nothing and I mean no one befuddled me as much as the mother! Like what was she thinking? She literally was okay with her son getting her step-son drugged and sleep with him! And the whole family acts like it means nothing.
I understand stories vary and there are nuances to everything in life, but this was just not at all logical. This series is a HUUUUUGEE step down from History3! History3 was gold! This is just cheap plastic. Like I say - All gloss and no lips!!
