I'm on EP 20 and I do agree with some of the others about the pacing - a bit slow and slice-of-life like vs melo drama. But what stands out for me is the fantastic auditory sensation we get from this series. The music, the voice acting, and the emotions that are being conveyed and performed by voice actors - it's such a feast for the ears! It gives me the tingles.
The scene where they have the dubbing competition and the ML - Qiang Qing Ci showcases multiple emotions and ways to deliver the lines was really cool. I can hear the different emotions and deleveries.
I get the annoyance with the FL - Sheng Sheng Man. At 22 she is boarding "too shy", almost teenage-like. But as the series goes on, I can see her development in feeling more secure in her relationship wants and she becomes more bold and lively. To be fair, it is her FIRST relationship. And if she comes from a more modest family or culture, this makes some sense. Although I get it, it's the 21st century, dramas don't need to make women characters so meek and girl-like.
I don't know about others, but I LOVE the tension that the ML and FL are able to convey. It's solid, great chemistry. Makes me feel a little squeal-ish.
Their second kiss in ep 19 was well done. No dead fish lips.
I did not like the pregnancy plotline of the SFL it was SO random. and she clearly stated that she didn't want to get married and have kids so what kind of wack propaganda was this she changed her mind and decided to have a baby?
I agree with other people that it was kind of slow. I watched most of it at 1.25x.
I did feel bad for ML and all the deaths he had to witness. That is legit so traumatizing for him. But I think bc he figured it all out on his own vs her revealing it to him, he had more time to process it than if FL came clean
I really enjoyed this series. Yes, there were some plot points that were less enjoyable than others, but the ensemble cast really shines and is what makes this series so fun.
This feels like a different kind of bad ending. I feel really bad for the Joseon ML. The FL liked him first and…
that was so painful! I felt so bad for him. also, the whole story was based on her going into the future and the past to save him, and yet when she came back to joseon, he STILL died. not the same way, but he died -- in what seems even more tragic as he just followed her around all day like a puppy that she didn't want. what was the whole point then?
Whew chile... The last episode was certainly something. My ending in my head is after the real BSE is killed,…
i feel sad that they got married again and none of their friends were invited. i think the ppl who stood by them all this time would've wanted to bask in the goodness with them.
I knew the last ep was gonna be a doozy based on ep 11. i also loved everything about this series, and then that finale just took a turn -- maybe it made sense in the novel, but it was not cohesive for the rest of the story. i am unsure why he was so devastated about the car accident. i thought he already knew that his dad/grandpa was behind it.
maybe the end wasn't what we all wanted but it still is a great drama! some may find it confusing, others boring,…
It wasn't the ending we wanted, but it was the one that made sense given the circumstances. Reminds of the Goblin. Everything was fantastic until the end. I feel like even though it was technically happy, it left me feeling kinda meh. They'll live their whole lives together but apart, feels kinds heartbreaking.
As someone who often loves watching brainless fluffy dramas, i love this. I'm on ep 5 and love how complex it is! It's visually gorgeous and the ML feels so elegant, a great portrayal of a modern King. A lot of people seem to hate on the romance but that almost feels secondary to me, which i am fine with.
Of all the Korean BL i've watched, the chemistry in this one feels the most genuine and not clunky or awkward. The only other good BL's i've seen come from Taiwan.
EDIT: This was so good! I agree that it was short. Unsure why all these people gave it such low ratings! What's a better BL, then?
I just finished ep 33. I loved all of it up until now, but now have mixed feelings as Xingzhi imprisoned shen li and refused to let her go. This made me feel sour toward him.

I LOVED the Alpacha. That was HILARIOUS.
