So he must have recognised her at check-up and used his connected to get her a pass in Round 1.... And he is protecting her currently in the background on behalf of her brother. It will not surprise me her brother may have either died or got hurt saving Seng Jun Sang before. That is only my thought....

When the ending is posted those that supports the drama can watch the last 5mins and make their own judgement. That is their choice.
And similarly no one really sadid the ending was bad nor was it misinformed, some felt it would be better to see Lan Zhan's smile along with Wei Yin in the final 5seconds together, that is not unreasonable nor was it omitting any information.
