Episode 8 exceeded my expectations in so many ways! Guys, Se Hee is such a wonderfully written character and I love him so much (❤) I'm so happy, and his actions are so meaningful.

I think the key to understanding Se Hee's character and his feelings for Ji Ho is by looking at his love for Kitty and his obsession to pay back loans for his house. Let's start at the beginning of the episode when he entrusts Ji Ho to take Kitty to the vet. Ji Ho, including the viewers, saw earlier how adamant he was to take the cat himself because he does not trust his most precious pet with literally ANYONE. On top of that, he spends a ridiculous amount of MONEY on Kitty - taxi, expensive cat food etc., even though he is very stingy. However, Se Hee's decision to ask Ji Ho was SPECIFICALLY so he could protect her from seeing Bok Nam. He ENTRUSTED his most precious thing to her because he cares about her A LOT and this is honestly so beautiful and subtle to me, because he will not do this for ANYONE ELSE, except Ji Ho. There's no other human that he cares about this much.

Se Hee's character gets even more precious when Ji Ho goes to the vet and hears that everyone there calls him Tough Guy™. This is mentioned quite a few times by her throughout the episode because it will reveal a lot about Se Hee's inner developing feelings towards Ji Ho by the end. The reason why he is the Tough Guy™ is not because he is a typically manly person, or that he is rude, but it is because he CARES DEEPLY about the cat - his most precious companion. He was mad BECAUSE HE LOVES THE CAT more than anything else, and he got super upset, because he wanted to protect it. This is totally unusual behavior for Se Hee, who is absolutely calm and collected, and he will NEVER show his anger so openly, EXCEPT for what he considers the most precious to him. This kind of behavior was only reserved for his cat - up until this episode, until Ji Ho that is.

Even during the middle of the episode, he hurt himself to avoid paying for damages to the motorbike, because he is VERY CALCULATED, he is not a violent man, and he can't afford to spend money on anything else because of his loans. Se Hee says this himself, "My treatment fee came out much cheaper than the repair fee (if I had damaged the motorbike)."

But the best part of the episode is the end, when we finally get to see the parallel between his love for the cat, and his feelings for Ji Ho. Se Hee ditched his cab, he ditched his normal routine (which he is very strict about), because of his concern and love for Ji Ho. He is visibly concerned and ANGRY AF when he finds her in danger. He breaks the motorbike that previously he was so careful about not even scratching because HE IS ANGRY.

Se Hee to Bok Nam: "No I'm not (going to punch you). That will cost me too much."
Se Hee: *proceeds to break his motorbike in rage*
Se Hee: "I found out your motorbike is an expensive one. I will pay back until 2048 while paying back my house."

THIS is not normal Se Hee behavior. He will not do this for anyone, except for someone who is precious to him more than anything else. This was only his cat, until now. And honestly? That was the perfect scene which said more about his love for Ji Ho than anything else. Se Hee's actions reveal so much about how much he cares for Ji Ho and I find that to be more endearing than any obvious physical acts of affection or wordy conversations. This is why Se Hee's love for Ji Ho is so unique, and quite honestly, very beautiful and romantic in its own special way. Because for someone like Se Hee, an act like this is so big. He will not go out of his way to understand and be concerned for another person, unless he finds them to be the most precious to him. It's absolutely adorable and endearing. Se Hee's devotion for Ji Ho will now only continue to grow and I'm totally here for it!

I understand what you mean, but I feel lukewarm about his introduction into the story. We can take his character…
Yeah same I hope that the story continues to be impressive and make social commentaries without it sounding too overbearing for the viewers and doing that just for the sake of it.

I love Ji Ho's character. I love how she is not like a weak female lead, but at the same time she's not a type A personality badass either. She is strong and determined stands up for herself in her own unique way and that is so refreshing because I think a lot of viewers will relate to this kind of a personality, rather than a straight up "badass" female lead or a "pushover" or "weak" character. I feel the same way about Se Hee too. Like, he is such an honest and solitary guy without being characterized by toxic masculinity, and to him, the most important thing is giving people the freedom to make their own decisions, rather than being manipulative and controlling towards others. Even though he gives Ji Ho freedom, I want to see him get angsty and jealous in his cute subtle way and through his geniune caring actions.

OMG, I agree with you so so much! I ship the GR & Ha Ram too. Moo gang & her just doesn't make sense (to me),…
Yeah, lol, I think it will be a tragic and painful romance, and I think we're going to get GR fall in love with Ha Ram because all the synopsis of the drama keep saying he's going to fall in love with her and then get erased from the world (?????) we will see what happens, either way I'm looking forward to the next episodes too. Seems like GR is going to stay in HMG's body for a while, after the drowning and then him not being able to get out of his body in the preview for next week!!

People Have 3 main issues with this drama. 1) They can't stand the Character Ah Ram's personality , 2) They can't…
1) Even though I find certain parts of Ah Ram's personality to be off-putting, I think it makes sense why she is the way she is. There's a reason why she is so brash and rough around the edges, Ah Ram is essentially a social outcast because she can see shadows, and has been bullied throughout her entire life, so the brashness is her defense mechanism. Even though I don't like it, I can understand why she acts the way she does. It's the same for the Grim Reaper. He acts selfish and mean-spirited because he's not a human.

2) This one's a hit-or-a-miss. It's an OCN thriller and things aren't supposed to make sense in the beginning because the story is still developing so I consider it a moot point for dropping the show. All the weird things happening will eventually start to fall in place, and this is not a light rom-com, so you can't expect the story to make sense and for the viewers to know how everything is going to be resolved.

3) It's an October-December drama. I'm enjoying the darkness.

But, yeah, in the end it depends on what the viewers want, but I personally think that it is a pretty okay drama, once you get used to the flow and don't mind being confused. As they say, "embrace the chaos."

i am so loving their scenes and relationship and i feel so disgusting with her coworkers. i also love how they…
I know right! I love that he's a gentleman and he's always the one carrying stuff every time he goes out to get food for the employees with Bo Mi. He treats his female employee with respect and brotherly love.

I admire the serious conversation going on about sexual harrassment in the workplace, especially when it is gender-based.…
I loved that dinner scene, and , especially their conversation in the car afterwards.

Soo Ji: I told you not to take anything personally and to be professional.
Song Goo: I didn't do that for personal gain. That was me being professional.

I'm so proud of Song Goo for showing solidarity, and doing this because, to him, it is being professional, and it's not just because he cares about Soo Ji. Also, I was so impressed when he sincerely apologized to her about the time when he was so upset earlier seeing her get sexually harassed, and it seemed like he was mansplaining to her. Even though him being upset and giving advice was with good intention, as a man, he doesn't have to go through what Soo Ji has to face in the workplace. I'm so happy that he acknowledged that and apologized for being mad at her, and for trying to understand what she has to go through to keep her job.

Yes, Jung Hye's character is so relatable! I love how awkward and adorable she is, even though on the outside she is so well composed and just a straight up badass

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really don’t like Ho Rang at all. Trying to manipulate someone…
Yes! This needed to be said. Ho Rang's character is so passive aggressive, and I think it's the worst personality to have!! I feel so bad for her boyfriend, because this entire time he was so sweet to her (buying her the couch on a 12-month plan even though he is obviously struggling with starting his own company, and it makes sense that he wants to wait before getting married, he's not financially stable yet) Instead of understanding his point of view and being respectful, she is passive aggressive about her own damn selfish opinions. If you want to get married, be honest about it with him instead of making your boyfriend run around in circles trying to understand what you want from him! Have a mature honest conversation about marriage and children! Sure, he is your boyfriend of 7 years and he should know you better, but that is still not necessarily a rule of thumb, because the only way to understand your significant other is through CONSTANT honest communication about your dreams, goals, priorities and life. I feel that they barely have honest conversations about these things and that's so important in a relationship! It makes me so mad. I guess it's a life lesson on the kind of situations to avoid at all costs.

I understand what you mean, but I feel lukewarm about his introduction into the story. We can take his character…
Oh yes, I definitely agree with you. People with accommodating personalities do more harm to themselves and it's most definitely not a strength for Ji Ho. Although it is her weakness, sometimes I am so happy that our home girl stands up for herself, like in the previous episode when she decided to reject the apology of her writer friend for sexually harassing her and normalizing the situation. She decided to quit her dream job because she wanted to stand up for herself. I hope we get to see more of that in the future as well. I hope that Se Hee comes to her rescue, but, not as a typical cliche "knight in shining armor" way but because he genuinely likes her and isn't a selfish asshole who only cares about himself, like most people assume he is. I think Se Hee is developing feelings for Ji Ho in his own way and investing time to help and understand her is something that I want to see in the future. Like Ji Ho said in the end, "If we don't try hard, we won't understand each other." I think that will be the theme of the next episodes, both the characters actively trying to find each other in their lives (it's already happening, like, Se Hee refusing a ride and taking the bus because he wants to go home with Ji Ho) and trying to understand each other. For Se Hee, this is difficult because he is a solitary guy and doesn't like to be involved with other people, but since he cares for Ji Ho in a unique way, I hope we will get to see more of that.

What a thoughtful drama - with sweet inner monologues and characters with depth! I love that every episode deals with a different tourist and everyone has their own inner perspective that we are privy to. Every character has dreams, desires, opinions and reasons for their actions. There's no flat character. Even though some viewers of this drama may find the pace of the story to be slow, I believe it adds to the special feeling for me. It makes the experience more meditative, and it makes me want to travel somewhere beautiful and think about life and love.

I don't like the introduction of the 2nd lead. His character is too forced and fake and an obvious device to create…
I understand what you mean, but I feel lukewarm about his introduction into the story. We can take his character as another issue that youths of our generation face in real life. For example, there are many predators who disguise themselves as charming men and use dating apps to stalk and prey on women. I found it very interesting that Ji Ho's friends were so mad that the 2nd lead was making weird advances on her, even though he knew she was married, but right after finding him to be attractive, they immediately dismissed that. I think this goes to show that society views "attractive" and charming men are unable to do wrong. Because we as a society view stalkers and predators as ugly and old creepy men, but, a lot of the times it is men we know who end up as rapists, and charming attractive men who feel entitled to their manhood to do "whatever they want" so they use dating apps and social websites to lure and prey on "easy" women.

After the 2nd lead mentioned Ji Ho was "easy," Nam Se Hee said it even better, "Ji Ho is not good at rejecting, I hope you don't 'suggest' (/coerce) her to take the motorbike with you." Ji Ho is very kind and has a difficult time rejecting people because she doesn't like to hurt others' feelings, she is accommodating, and this is why most men think they can take advantage of her. There are many women like Ji Ho who suffer greatly because of this. I hope that the writers do a good job in developing her character from this. I'm interested in Ji Ho and Se Hee's actions in response to this, for the sake of their character development, more than jealousy (which I think is an added bonus haha). Honestly, I was so happy when I saw Ji Ho react so honestly when the guy took her to the beautiful spot (without letting her know! WTF). She built a space between each other because, even though she is in a contract marriage, Ji Ho respects the idea of "marriage" and isn't petty and thoughtless in order to get back at Se Hee, except when she's obviously angry, but that's a very human thing to do, we all feel petty sometimes when we are mad.

I do agree with you that the 2nd lead is an obvious plot device, but I personally feel it can help the story if the writers continue to make the characters grow from it.

I love the chemistry between the main leads! I love that the romance doesn't overshadow the main plot or the bigger story. It's a cute, side thing, and they're both playfully bonding with each other and developing a slow romance. I'm totally here for it.

Also, Ma Yi Deum's character is just so relatable haha

Ma Yi Deum: *chugs five cans of beer*
Ma Yi Deum: Okay, I'm ready now.
Yeo Jin Wook: For what?
Ma Yi Deum: I'm ready to accept your feelings for me.

Exactly, girl. I feel you. Let the alcohol warm you up to emotions haha

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES #444? I don't understand why some people have their panties in a bunch because he originally looked like an ahjussi? I don't understand why that matters because grim reapers are meant to be immortal beings anyway? Even if reapers look young, I bet you they have all been around for hundreds of years, so technically age is hardly an issue. Also, it seems that #444 is going to be permanently stuck in Hang Moo Gang's body, and I'm totally here for romance! It's going to be interesting if the grim reaper falls in love with Ha Ram, who can see "shadows" - it sounds more romantic

Also, I might be in the minority but I didn't ship Moo Gang with Ha Ram. The guy was her childhood crush, and sure, he was sweet to her, but I didn't feel any chemistry. Also, Moo Gang had a girlfriend, Yoon Soo Wan. When he died, he was in love with Yoon Soo Wan. I mean, people are welcome to ship whoever, but I think it's unlikely that there will be anything between them, and, I'm almost certain HMG isn't coming back. I do, however, think that he is a key player in all the stuff going on in the plot, but I'm certain he's dead for good.

I'm feeling a romance between Ha Ram and Black. Song Seung Heon is doing a good job - his acting of Black is so different from HMG, and to me when he's acting as Black he has a lot of chemistry with Go Ah Ra's character. Ep. 6 as he was in the water "That woman will be so sad." the last thing he thought before (supposedly) leaving HMG's body was Ha Ram. Eventual romance = confirmed haha. And there were some nice scenes between the two in the last few episodes. I love how oblivious he is about personal space and basic human gestures, but he's just a grim reaper who never meddled with human matters until now but he's slowly becoming more human - dreaming, memories of HMG, little gestures of protecting Ha Ram (even though there's selfishness there). I may be one of the few, but I really enjoy the chemistry and I can't wait for some romance. The mystery is also starting to make more sense and the story is finding its shape with time.

This isn't my favorite drama or anything. I find the story to be average, and the overall acting and script are nothing special, but it's a pretty good enjoyable way to spend my weekends.
